Abstract:
The slug retrieval apparatus is used with a hole saw with chuck mechanism, after a pilot hole is drilled. The apparatus is fitted within the chuck mechanism and the hole saw then used to cut a hole in the workpiece. The shaft of the apparatus guides the hole saw cut, as would the shaft of a pilot bit. The springs within the slot of the shaft compress within the slot to allow the shaft to pass through the pilot hole drilled in the workpiece. The springs then expand to capture the shaft within the hole. When the slug is cut from the workpiece by the saw, the springs capture the slug until the user compresses the springs to remove the slug. The springs provide for expansion no matter the speed of the apparatus used to drive the hole saw.
A ring binder mechanism has an elongate housing, a pair of locking elements, a translation bar, a pair of elongate hinge plates having mating ring halves extending there-from, a plurality of mating ring halves, and an actuator. Movement of the actuator moves the hinge plates, translation bar, and locking elements to cause the ring halves to disengage so a user can place holed paper over the open ring halves, or closes the ring halves together to secure the paper with the closed-loop rings thus form while simultaneously locking the rings in the closed-loop configuration to prevent inadvertent opening.

Abstract:
A characteristic intensity of a feature in image data generated by scanning a microarray probe is determined. A set of pixels of the image data that nominally represent the feature is identified. The pixels each have an value (such as an intensity value) associated therewith. For each of a plurality of subsets of the set of pixels, a variation statistic value is determined that corresponds to a variation in the values associated with the pixels of that subset. One of the subsets of pixels is chosen based on the determined variation statistic values. A method is also described to relate a first expression array of probes to a second expression array of probes. A subset of the probe for the arrays is determined based on a comparison of the ordering of the subset of the probes of the second array, according to a particular characteristic of the probes, to the ordering of corresponding probes in the first array according to the particular characteristic of the probes. A relationship of the second expression array to the first expression array is determined based on the subset of probes of the second expression array to the corresponding probes of the first array.

Abstract:
A cleaning utensil is disclosed having a housing comprised of a cleaning portion and a handle portion. The housing has a reservoir and a pump. The reservoir is adapted to contain a fluid. The cleaning portion has a scrubbing surface and an orifice, and the handle portion has an actuator. The pump communicates with the reservoir, the orifice, and the actuator; whereby actuation of the actuator causes the fluid to be drawn from the reservoir and exhausted from the orifice by the pump. The orifice is arranged and adapted to cause the fluid to be exhausted forwardly from the cleaning portion. A bristled scrubbing element is removably affixable to the cleaning portion and has a scrubbing surface extending up first and second opposite side surfaces of the cleaning portion and across a bottom surface of the cleaning portion from the first side to the second side.
