Abstract:
A covered binder assembly in accordance with one exemplary embodiment of the present inventions includes a front cover, a rear cover, and a spine connecting the front and rear covers. The front cover has a window assembly including a transparent sheet mounted thereto. The front cover may be transparent to allow the user to see through front cover into the interior of the binder. The transparent sheet spans substantially over the front cover to form a front cover pocket between the cover and the transparent sheet. An opening is extended along a corner between the front cover and the spine to provide access to the front cover pocket. A closure arrangement is provided to facilitate the closing of the opening. A second thin transparent sheet forms a spine pocket between the spine and the second transparent sheet. The opening along the corner between the front cover and the spine also provides access to the spine pocket.

A label applicator including a support surface having a central area and curving downwardly from the central area. A post assembly extends up from the central area such that a label having a label through-hole can be positioned in a support position generally on the support surface with the post assembly extending up through the label through-hole and an adhesive face of the label facing up. Thereby an article having an article through-hole can be positioned over the post assembly so that a flat surface of the article can be pressed and guided against the adhesive face of the positioned label. The curved surface flattens out as the article is pressed down, allowing the label to be smoothly applied to the article. Pins extending up adjacent to the support surface engage in notches on the label and help hold the label in place.

Printing stock for use in making a sign that includes a face sheet and a backing sheet. The sign is formed, for example, by overlapping a plurality of face sub-sheets of the printing stock, with the face sub-sheets arranged in a pattern to form a desired image of the sign. The face sheet includes a printing surface for receiving ink and an adhesive surface for receiving the backing sheet. The face sheet includes a face cut forming a margin and the face sub-sheet such that at least a portion of the margin is separable from the face sub-sheet. The backing sheet may include a backing cut forming a border and a backing sub-sheet such that at least a portion of the border is separable from the backing sub-sheet so that at least a portion of the adhesive surface of the face sheet is exposable.
A portfolio includes a cover with a body. The body has a front, a spine, a back, and a pair of hinges. The body is made from moldable material that is molded to form integrally the front, the spine, the back, and the hinges. The moldable material of the body provides support to the portfolio and may be resilient to absorb shock. The body of the cover may include a plurality of features projecting from an outer side thereof. A number of such features may be disposed along the spine to provide a grip-like surface. The body may also be molded to include one or more accessory features or logo features. Stiffening structure may be provided to increase the rigidity of the cover, and a skin may be provided on an outer side of the body. The body, including the bonding of the skin to the body, may be formed in one step of a manufacturing process.
Methods And Apparatus For Dispensing Labels And Label Strips For Use In The Same
Apparatus for dispensing and applying labels includes a label assembly and a handheld dispenser. The label assembly may include a spool and a label strip. The label strip has a base layer, an adhesive layer, and a plurality of label elements, such as graphics or alphanumeric text. The adhesive layer is coated onto the base layer with the label elements discretely coated onto the adhesive layer in a single-file manner such that a blank space is defined between adjacent label elements. The dispenser includes a spindle for receiving the spool and an applicator configured to enable one of the label elements in combination with a section of the adhesive layer to be applied to a surface. The section of adhesive layer that is applied may be defined as extending from the blank space on one side of the label element to the blank space on the other side of the label element. The combination of label element and the section of the adhesive layer applied to a surface defines a label in accordance with the invention.
