Abstract:
A proxy device is disclosed for use in an RFID system comprising a plurality of RFID devices and at least one reader which communicates with the proxy device and one or more of the RFID devices. The proxy device acquires information characterizing at least a given one of the RFID devices, controls the given RFID device so as to at least partially prevent the given RFID device from being read by the reader, and communicates with the reader in a manner which simulates the given RFID device. This advantageously allows the proxy device to implement privacy policies of arbitrary sophistication on behalf of the given RFID device. The proxy device subsequently releases control of the given RFID device so as to permit the given RFID device to again be read by the reader.

Abstract:
A system and method for performing an electronic transaction, including registration, audit and trusted recovery features. A transaction request message is received from a registered user that includes an unblinded validated certificate, and a blinded unvalidated certificate. If the unblinded validated certificate is determined to be legitimate, then a transaction can be performed, and the blinded unvalidated certificate is validated to obtain a blinded, validated certificate that is sent to the user. An audit protocol can be used to further verify the legitimacy of the transaction request message, and a user can recover from a broken connection by replaying a protocol run.

Abstract:
The onion routing network is used to protect Internet initiators and responders against both eavesdropping and traffic analysis from other users of the Internet. In the onion routing of the invention, instead of making connections directly to a responding machine, users make connections through onion routers. The onion routing network allows the connection between the initiator and responder to remain anonymous. Anonymous connections hide who is connected to whom and for what purpose from outside eavesdroppers.
