Novel apparatuses and methods for depositing or placing substances on substrates or plates are described. The invention relates to automated and semiautomated apparatuses and methods for controlled volume and precise placement of substances on substrates. Combinations of applicator tips, applicator tip assemblies, applicator reservoirs, applicator holders and movable racks precisely and accurately place samples and testing chemicals on substrates. Applicator tips particularly useful for dunk transfer and deposit processes and for carrying substances are disclosed. Apparatuses for precisely moving applicator holders, applicator reservoirs and tips are disclosed. The methods and apparatuses also have features for pre-loading substances on applicators and applicator reservoirs and precisely delivering the preloaded substances to substrates.
Reagents And Methods For Fluorescent Analysis Of Serum Proteins
Methods and reagents for fluorescent analysis of serum proteins separated by electrophoresis. This assay allows for the immediate quantitation of resolved proteins in biological materials. The electrophoresed sample is treated with a fixative composition and stained using an ANS-based stain solution. No pre-stain washing or post-stain washing and drying is required. The fluorescent serum protein assay allows for automation of serum protein analyses.

Abstract:
The present invention is a feed supplement consisting of a blood product from at least one Crocodylian species such as the American alligator (). The blood product is whole blood, hemolyzed blood, serum or plasma. The feed supplement is a liquid or solid. The feed supplement may be combined with a high nutrient feed or starter diet. The feed composition may contain 0.1% or more by weight of the feed supplement. The feed supplement is fed to weanling pigs or poultry hatchlings to increase their weight and feed intake. It is also expected to promote gut health.

Abstract:
An improvement in the immunofixation electrophoresis procedure for detecting proteins in serum, urine or cerebral spinal fluids. Samples are placed on a gel and subjected to electrophoresis for resolving or separating proteins. Thereafter, antisera are applied to the sample areas through openings located on a template. The template includes projections and, the template substantially precludes cross-contamination and the adverse effects of ambient conditions on the integrity of the fluid, such as by the projections contacting, depressing or cutting into the gel to form closed cavities.
