Abstract:
An adhesive blend is comprised of a hydrophilic pressure sensitive adhesive comprising the polymerization product of (a) about 15 to about 85 parts by weight of an (meth)acrylate ester monomer wherein the (meth)acrylate ester monomer, when polymerized, has a glass transition temperature (T ) of less than about 10Â C. ; (b) about 85 to about 15 parts by weight of a hydrophilic acidic comonomer; and (c) at least about 10 parts based on 100 parts of the sum of components (a)+(b) of a non-reactive plasticizing agent and a hydrophobic pressure sensitive adhesive comprising an elastomer or thermoplastic elastomer including styrene block copolymers (e. g. , linear, radial, tapered, star) consisting of copolymerized styrene and isoprene, butadiene or ethylene-butylene; polyisoprene; polybutadiene; polyisobutylene; butyl rubber; styrene-butadiepe rubber; natural rubber; and poly--olefins (e. g. , polyhexene, polyoctene and propylene-hexene).

Abstract:
Pressure sensitive adhesive compositions and articles, wherein the adhesive includes at least one acrylate pressure sensitive adhesive component and at least one thermoplastic elastomer-based pressure sensitive adhesive component. The acrylate component includes at least one polymerized monofunctional (meth)acrylic acid ester monomer having a Tg of no greater than about 0Â C. when homopolymerized, and 0 to about 10 wt % of at least one copolymerized monofunctional ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a Tg of at least about 10Â C. when homopolymerized. The thermoplastic elastomer-based pressure sensitive adhesive component includes a radial block copolymer.

Abstract:
A novel polymodal asymmetric elastomeric block copolymer and a pressure sensitive adhesive, tape and adhesive backed article made therefrom, such as a polymer foam article having a substantially smooth surface prepared by melt-mixing a polymer composition and a plurality of microspheres, at least one of which is an expandable polymeric microsphere, under process conditions, including temperature and shear rate, selected to form an expandable extrudable composition; and extruding the composition through a die.
Block Copolymer Hot-Melt Processable Adhesives, Methods Of Their Preparation, And Articles Therefrom
Hot-melt processable adhesive, such as pressure-sensitive-adhesive (PSA) or heat-activatable adhesive, compositions of the present invention possess a broad formulation latitude and adequate cohesive strength after application for use in high performance applications. Hot-melt processable adhesives of the invention comprise at least one block copolymer comprising at least two A blocks and at least one B block. The A and B blocks are derived from monoethylenically unsaturated monomers, which monomers result in saturated polymer backbones without the need for subsequent hydrogenation upon their polymerization. Preferably, the block copolymer is a (meth)acrylate block copolymer.
