  • Assignee:
API Software, Inc. - Hartford WI
  • International Classification:
    G06F 11/00
  • US Classification:
    702188
  • Abstract:
A monitoring system in a medical facility provides an identification device to a patient and a data acquisition device to a health-care worker. The identification device wirelessly emits a first signal that identifies the patient and the data acquisition device emits a second signal. A determination is made in response to the first signal and the second signal, whether the health-care worker is absent from being near the patient. For example, absence of the health-care worker is determined when a data reader receives only the first signal. This system detects when a patient requiring continuous observation is not in the presence of a health-care worker. In that case, an alarm message is sent to supervisory personnel.

  • International Classification:
    G06F017/60
  • US Classification:
    705/009000
  • Abstract:
The amount of time actually worked by an employee and the amounts of time that the employee is scheduled to work in the future are analyzed to project whether the employee will be entitled to overtime compensation. That analysis is based on rules which define when overtime compensation accrues. When overtime is projected to occur, a message indicating that projection is automatically sent to supervisory personnel, who can respond by accepting the projected amount of overtime or by changing the employee's work schedule to avoid the overtime occurring.

  • International Classification:
    G06F017/60
  • US Classification:
    705030000
  • Abstract:
A computer system records when employees enter and exit a workplace, thereby producing time and attendance data for each employee. Each supervisor is able to configure computer generated reports that contain designated information about the employees for whom a respective supervisor is responsible. A separate summary data file stores report data for each employee and the report data are updated automatically as the employee completes a period of work. The supervisor creates a report profile which specifies items of report data that are to appear on a particular report and whether only employees with an item of report data within a selected range are to appear. Reports are produced for a supervisor by using the respective report profile and summary data files for those employees associated with that supervisor.

  • International Classification:
    G07C 1/10
    G06F 17/40
  • US Classification:
    705032000, 702187000
  • Abstract:
Healthcare services at a patient's residence are monitored by placing an identification device in the residence and by a healthcare worker carrying a data acquisition device. Whenever proximate to the residence, the data acquisition device receives a wireless signal that carries an identifier from the identification device. The data acquisition device responds to receipt of that wireless signal by recording the identifier and measuring the amount of time that the signal continues to be received. At some later point in time, the information acquired by the data acquisition device is transferred to a computer system for processing and preparation of records about the quality and security of patient care and the time and attendance of the healthcare worker.

    G06F 17/00
  • US Classification:
    707103 R
  • Abstract:
A user enters data about a resource into a computer using a method wherein the user selects a data field in which the data is to be entered. In response to that selection, the computer reviews previously stored records related to the resource to find instances of data contained in the data field. Those instances then are displayed to the user, who selects of one of the instances as a value to be entered into the data field. Thus the user is provided with a list of previous values that are contained in the selected data field for the resource, which list facilitates locating and entering information in new records for this resource.

  • International Classification:
    G06F 19/00
  • US Classification:
    705 3
  • Abstract:
A medical patient is issued an identification device that emits a first wireless signal providing a patient identification. A plurality of data collectors are placed at different locations in a medical facility to receive the first wireless signal when the patient is nearby. A separate patient event record is generated whenever one of the data collectors receives the first wireless signal and each such record contains the patient identification, time of receipt, and identification of the receiving data collector. The plurality of patient event records are analyzed to derive a report about activity of the patient within the medical facility. For example the report may indicate bathroom activity of the patient or how far and often the patient walked around the medical facility. The reports are useful to monitor and evaluate the patient's medical condition, recovery and security.
