Abstract:
An ink fountain mechanism for adjustably metering the thickness of of ink in a plurality of zones axially across a fountain roller for a printing press includes a plurality of metering blocks, horizontally aligned and axially adjacent to one another with side-by-side upper support surfaces forming a substantially continuous support surface along the length of the fountain roller. Each upper surface of the metering blocks is adjustably spaced from the ink receiving fountain roller. A plurality of adjustment bolts are each separately and threadably engaged with each of the plurality of metering blocks. The adjustment bolts are slideably supported in a main beam that extends the length of the fountain roller. A plurality of lever actuated cams are pivotably held adjacent to the heads of each of the adjustment bolts. Metering cams are engaged with the heads of the adjustment bolts and are actuatable between a minimum position, providing a minimum ink metered thickness, and a maximum position, providing a maximum metered ink thickness.
Ink Fountain Assembly With Non-Tilt Cheeks And Liner Replacement Mechanism
A non-tilt cheek assembly is provided for use in an ink fountain assembly. An ink fountain mechanism for adjustably metering the thickness of the layer of ink in a plurality of zones axially across a fountain roller for a printing press. The ink fountain mechanism includes a plurality of metering blocks, horizontally aligned and axially adjacent to one another with side-by-side upper support surfaces forming a substantially continuous support surface along the length of the fountain roller. Each upper surface of the metering blocks is adjustably spaced from the fountain roller to control the amount of ink, in a zone corresponding to the side-to-side length of the support surface of each metering block. A plurality of adjustment bolts are each separately and threadably engaged with each of the plurality of metering blocks. The adjustment bolts are slideably supported in a main beam that extends the length of the fountain roller.
A sheet feed roller system for reversing the sheet contact side of a sheet feed mechanism for an offset printing press. A traction roller is attached to a pivot shaft in the place of an idler roller. A non-traction roller is attached in the place of a drive roller. A transmission is provided having a rotary input connectable to the press for receiving rotational power from the press and having a rotary output. A variant axes drive mechanism with a first end and a second end is constructed so that the first end couples to the rotary output of the transmission. A power roller is attached and coupled to the second end of the variant axes drive mechanism and so that it pivots with the pivot shaft and remains in rotational contact with the traction roller to impart rotational power to the traction roller. The power roller and the traction roller pivot together about the pivot shaft toward and away from contact with the non-traction roller so that a sheet to be fed is engaged between the traction roller and the non-traction roller and is propelled into the printing press by rolling contact with the traction roller.
A carrier for condiment and beverage containers has an upright sidewall affixed to a horizontal bottom that cooperates with the sidewall to form a storage area to receive and hold condiment and beverage containers. A horizontal platform integral with the bottom extends outward with respect to the sidewall terminating with an outer end. An elongate dowel is affixed to the platform between the outer end of the platform and the sidewall. The elongate dowel extends upright with respect to the platform, and is to receive thereabout a paper towel roll and the platform to receive and support an end of the paper towel roll received thereabout the elongate dowel.
In a sheet feeder apparatus, a feeder mechanism for picking up sheets from a stack of sheets of a material includes a support bar, at least one pickup head, and an adjuster. The support bar includes cylindrical ends and an intermediate portion between the cylindrical ends. The cylindrical ends are configured to pivotally couple to control arms of the sheet feeder apparatus. The pickup heads are coupled to the intermediate portion of the support bar and an adjuster is coupled to the support bar at one of the cylindrical ends. The adjuster includes a bracket coupled to the intermediate portion of the support bar, a pivot arm selectively pivotable about the cylindrical end of the support bar, and an adjustment mechanism coupled between the bracket and the pivot arm. The adjustment mechanism pivots the support bar relative to the pivot arm to thereby tilt the pickup heads.

US Classification:

Abstract:
An apparatus for continuously providing dampening fluid to a plate cylinder of a lithographic printing press includes a frame operatively connected to the printing press. A dampening fluid reservoir is attached. A pan roller is rotatably mounted in the frame and is disposed in contact with dampening fluid in the dampening fluid reservoir. A transfer roller set tangentially contacts and is parallel to the pan roller. The transfer roller is rotated by friction from the pan roller which is driven at a rotation speed proportional to the speed of the plate cylinder. An ink receptive oscillating roller having a resiliently compressible surface is tangentially contacting and parallel to the transfer roller. The oscillating roller is gear driven at a rotational speed proportional to the speed of the plate cylinder. A water form roller is rotatably mounted in the frame tangentially contacting and in a parallel relation to both the plate cylinder and the resiliently compressible surface of the ink receptive oscillating roller for carrying an even metered layer of water from the oscillating roller to the plate cylinder.
Multiple Color Offset Rotary Printing Press With Horizontal Slide Access
A horizontal slide mechanism for removably replacing an inking unit in a rotary offset printing press of the type having a plate cylinder, a blanket cylinder and an impression cylinder having parallel rotational axes. The horizontal slide mechanism includes a first guide track and first slide plate mounted to the printing press and to said inking unit adjacent and parallel to the plate, blanket and impression cylinders for guided horizontal movement parallel to the plate, blanket and impression cylinder of the printing press. A second guide track and second slide plate pair are mounted between the printing press and the inking unit at another location parallel to and spaced apart a predeteremined transverse distance from the first guide track and slide plate pair for guided movement and support of the inking unit. A latching mechanism is provided by which the inking unit is releasably held in a first operating position corresponding to inking engagement.
Horizontal Sheet Transfer Multiple Color Offset Rotary Printing Press With Horizontal Slide Access
A horizontal slide mechanism for removably replacing an inking unit set in a rotary offset printing press of the type having a plate cylinder, a blanket cylinder and an impression cylinder having parallel rotational axes. The horizontal slide mechanism includes a guide track rigidly mounted to the printing press adjacent and parallel to the plate, blanket and impression cylinders. A slide plate is supported in the guide track for guided movement parallel to the plate, blanket and impression cylinder transverse to the printing press. A pivot mount is attached to the slide plate and is pivotably attached to the inking unit. The pivot mount on the slide plate provides a single pivot axis parallel to the rotational axes of the plate, blanket and impression cylinders, and is positioned spaced apart from the plate cylinder for pivoting the inking unit between a first and a second pivot position. The first pivot position corresponds to inking engagement with the plate cylinder, and the second pivot position corresponds to a spaced apart disengaged position, at which the inking unit is not in operational engagement with the plate cylinder. A latching mechanism is provided by which the inking unit is releasably held and locked in the first position corresponding to inking engagement.
