  • Abstract:
A drive rail includes a sealed interior cavity and an exterior drive surface that extends along a length of the drive rail. A first magnetic member is disposed within the interior cavity and adjacent to a surface of the interior cavity that is immediately opposite the exterior drive surface. A drive mechanism is disposed within the interior cavity and in connection with the first magnetic member, and is configured to move the first magnetic member within the interior cavity along the length of the drive rail, such that the first magnetic member remains immediately opposite the exterior drive surface. The first magnetic member is configured to magnetically couple through the exterior drive surface to a wafer carrier disposed adjacent to the exterior drive surface. Movement of the first magnetic member within the interior cavity along the drive rail causes corresponding movement of the wafer carrier along the exterior drive surface.

  • Percussive Dental Crown Extractor

    view source
  • US Patent:
    43008852, Nov 17, 1981
  • Filed:
    Jul 30, 1980
  • Appl. No.:
    6/172860
  • Inventors:
George Khait - San Francisco CA
  • International Classification:
    A61C 308
  • US Classification:
    433151
  • Abstract:
A percussive dental crown extractor comprises a hook 16 attached by an arm 14 to the front end of a tube 12 which encloses a cylindrical, notched hammer 44 and a spring 50 urging the hammer to the rear end of the tube, remote from the hook. The tube is telescoped into an outer cylinder 10. The tube and cylinder are held together by an axial post 38, one end of which is attached to the bottom 32 of the cylinder, the other end of which extends through an opening in the rear 36 of the tube and has a captivating cap 40 inside the tube. A spring 42 around the post urges the tube and cylinder apart. A sear 52 mounted in a boss 20 in the side of the tube, engages a notch 46 on the hammer when the hammer is moved to the front end 34 of the tube by compressing the cylinder and tube. When the cylinder and tube are relaxed, the hammer and its spring are held cocked by the sear. When the sear is pulled out of the hammer by a finger release 22, the hammer flies back to hit the post cap, which in turn hits the rear end of the tube, causing the tube, and hence the hook, to jolt rearwardly.

  • Abstract:
A template for drawing accurately-positioned circular or straight lines regardless of the tip angle and diameter of the writing instrument used therewith has specially-shaped holes positioned at respectively different, predetermined spacings from a reference point, which may be an edge of the template or a pivot point on the template. Each hole has an elongated shape with opposed edges which converge at acute angles and which are equidistantly spaced from the line the hole is provided to draw. The holes may be arranged in parallel rows and spaced predetermined distances from either a single pivot point or multiple pivot points, or they may be in radial rows emanating from a single pivot point. The pivot point may comprise a pierced removable insert to accept wear from a pivot such as a tack, or it may be a hole in the template with a pivot point springably mounted adjacent the hole and lowerable thereinto.

  • Automatic Photographic Labeling Device Employing Lcd And Cassette Mount

    view source
  • US Patent:
    50347608, Jul 23, 1991
  • Filed:
    Dec 26, 1989
  • Appl. No.:
    7/457105
  • Inventors:
    George Khait - Alameda CA
  • International Classification:
    G03B 1724
  • US Classification:
    354105
  • Abstract:
A photographic cassette with an automatic photographic labeling device comprises an LCD panel (12) and a power supply unit (14) connected to the body of cassette (18). The LCD panel consists of unit display cells (26) arranged in a checkerboard pattern and connected in parallel to the power supply unit, so that any portion of the displaay panel can be removed without damaging the electric connection between the power supply unit and the remaining display cells (26). The cassette with the panel attached is installed into a photographic camera as with a conventional cassette. Since the remaining display cells are constantly connected to power supply unit, which in turn is connected to a crystal timing element (22), the display elements constantly display time indicia, i. e. , the year, month, day, etc. When a picture is taken, the non-transparent time delay indicia are projected onto the film and are produced after development.
