Abstract:

A Kalman filter algorithm is used for estimation in a feedback control system for a moving web. Matrices of the Kalman filter algorithm are solved with reduced computational complexity. One of the matrices is solved as a diagonal matrix for both state prediction and covariance and another matrix for gain is solved merely as a vector.

A method of detecting streaks in a web of, for example, moving paper which may be moisture, basis weight or caliper. Abstract:

In order to make accurate predictions on whether or not a power grid is stable, it is desirable to know the frequency and phase of at least each “control area” in the power grid. Each control area will ideally have power generation matched with its load. Rather than measure thousands of data points at low resolution in order to calculate potential grid instabilities, one may make few highly accurate measurements at low voltage to predict frequency and phase of high voltage transmission lines. Predicted data at the transmission points can then be used to calculate the relative stability of the power grid. The method includes the use of non-linear Luenberger observers and Kalman filters. The method can also be used to compute “Virtual measurements” for any component in the connected grid based on lower cost or easier to obtain measurement at other points on network. This method applies to any connected network of components.

A device and method for monitoring the condition of an electrical power transformer in an electrical power grid synchronously measures current and voltage data at both a high voltage side of the transformer and a low-voltage side of the transformer and computes from this measured data corresponding transformer impedance data. These measurements and computations are repeated continuously in real time at a rates up to 30 Hz to provide a sequence of real-time transformer impedance data. An alarm signal is generated if a mean of the sequence of real-time transformer impedance data changes significantly.

Abstract:

A method for monitoring a power grid uses power line sensors to measure time-stamped data representing AC current carried by the power grid at a multiple locations on the power grid, communicates the measured data from the power line sensors to a grid analysis device where the data measured by the power line sensors is synchronized and unwrapped to produce absolute phase data. The absolute phase data is then analyzed to generate predictions of instability of the power grid. The resulting unwrapped angle could also be called the “angle distance” from the reference.

Abstract:

The present invention generally relates to medical devices, and more particularly to an improved intravascular intervention device. In one embodiment, an intravascular intervention device includes a microcatheter configured for intravascular delivery, an imaging wire received within the microcatheter, and a treatment device received within the microcatheter, wherein the imaging wire and the treatment device may be simultaneously advanced. The treatment device is configured to perform intravascular intervention. For example, the treatment device may be configured to deliver a stent, an embolic coil and/or a thrombolytic agent. In this embodiment, the intravascular intervention device may image the area of interest while performing the intravascular intervention, thus allowing imaging to take place in real time.
