Abstract:

A stable viscous liquid bleach that may be safely applied directly to stubborn stains is prepared by adding certain anionic or nonionic surfactants to aqueous solutions containing up to 30% by weight hydrogen peroxide. The viscosity of the aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution is adjusted to be within the range of about 60 cps - 6,000 cps by addition of a water dispersible copolymer of an alpha-beta monoolefinically unsaturated lower aliphatic carboxylic acid crosslinked with a polyether of a polyol selected from the class consisting of oligo saccharides, reduced derivatives thereof in which the carbonyl group is converted to an alcohol group and pentaerythritol, the hydroxy groups of said polyol which are modified being etherified with allyl groups, said polyol having at least two allyl groups per polyol molecule.

Abstract:

The invention relates to the dispensing of hydrogen peroxide into a clothes dryer. The aqueous hydrogen peroxide is placed into a container with a microporous, hydrophobic surface which is heated whereby the hydrogen peroxide is vaporized and delivered to the interior of the dryer where it is available to bleach textiles.

Abstract:

Low bulk density, soda ash-based, nonphosphate laundry detergents are prepared by (a) loading nonaqueous liquid surfactant onto substantially anhydrous, hydratable soda ash particles, (b) turbulently dispersing the surfactant-loaded particles into an inert gaseous medium while wetting the dispersed particles with an atomized stream of dilute aqueous sodium silicate or with separate atomized streams of water and concentrated aqueous sodium silicate, and (c) recovering the resultant particulate detergent. Abstract:

Screen undersize anhydrous sodium tripolyphosphate particles, containing at least 2 weight percent of an alkali metal pyrophosphate, preferably sodium pyrophosphate, are moisturized with from about 145% to about 185% by weight of the theoretical amount of water to convert the anhydrous sodium tripolyphosphate into the hexahydrate form. The material is agitated during moisturization to keep the temperature below about 80. degree. C. , and the moisturized material is dried at a temperature below 80. degree. C. to remove most of the free moisture. The product recovered from the drying step is a granular sodium tripolyphosphate hexahydrate product having a bulk density within the range of 0. 59 g/cc to 0. 64 g/cc and a friability of no higher than 30%.
