  • US Classification:
    415 2A
  • Abstract:
Presented is a means for thrust and, hence, yaw and load control of a TARP twin rotor system by means of initiating a thrust differential between said rotors which, in turn, yaws the twin rotor assembly into a protected low flow velocity region about a TARP and alleviates load on said assembly.
  • Wind Amplified Rotor Platform (Warp)

  • US Patent:
    55205054, May 28, 1996
  • Filed:
    Oct 3, 1994
  • Appl. No.:
    8/316781
  • Inventors:
Alfred L. Weisbrich - West Simsbury CT
  • International Classification:
    F03D 702
    F03D 704
  • US Classification:
    415 41
  • Abstract:
An energy conversion device which comprises a stacked array of alternating yawable and fixed toroidal modules about a central core structure. The yawable toroids have typically four impact impellers mounted in their peripheral flow regions for the purpose of capturing flow energy. The fixed toroids are mounted to complement and further enhance fluid flow impact impeller energy capture and to provide housing means for a variety of matter both associated and unassociated with the energy system. The stacked array of a toroid with impellers, designated a Toroidal Rotor Amplifier Platform (TRAP. TM. ), and a toroid without impellers, designated a Toroidal Wind Frame (TWF. TM. ), is referred to in aggregate, when used for wind energy conversion, as a Wind Amplified Rotor Platforms (WARP. TM. ) system. Under wind energy conversion use, a WARP. TM. system may be used also to both generate electric power and serve as a power line transmission support tower, and/or as a telecommunications or surveillance tower, housing within toroids related structural, transmitting and receiving equipment.

  • US Patent:
    41565797, May 29, 1979
  • Filed:
    Feb 25, 1977
  • Appl. No.:
    5/763936
  • Inventors:
Alfred L. Weisbrich - Windsor CT
  • International Classification:
    F03D 304
  • US Classification:
    415 2
  • Abstract:
A fluid flow accelerator structure which is substantially the shape of an interior section of a hollow toroid of general arbitrary cross-section in both vertical and horizontal planes, meaning that in both a vertical and horizontal plane a cross-section may be non-circular, and circumventing an axis central to said toroid, providing fluid flow channel means about the exterior periphery of said structure, and wherein fluid impact impellers are mounted within said fluid flow accelerator channel means in regions of optimum flow velocity for optimum energy recovery, and said fluid flow accelerator is further provided with partial shroud shell means on parts of its periphery and therewith completely circumventing projected actuator discs of said impact impellers, about an axis substantially perpendicular to said actuator discs, in complement with said peripheral channel means. The invention is contemplated for use in conjunction with electric generators or power generating systems in general capable of utilizing power output from said impact impellers operating on said fluid flow accelerator structure. The omnidirectional fluid flow accelerator referenced in the former application above shall hence forth be referred to as a Toroidal Accelerator Rotor Platform or TARP in acronym form.

  • Footwear Sole-To-Surface Connector For On-Demand Omnidirectional Disengagement Means

    view source
  • US Patent:
    51705745, Dec 15, 1992
  • Filed:
    Dec 17, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/628093
  • Inventors:
Alfred L. Weisbrich - West Simsbury CT
  • International Classification:
    A43B 500
  • US Classification:
    36131
  • Abstract:
A new and improved connector is provided for footwear and associated specific footwear step-on devices and surfaces. The invention utilizes complementing members of a type of separable, coacting, flexible gripping means, such as hook and loop "Velcro" type or knob-knob type or other similar flexible type fastening members. These members are arranged to form an integral firmly attached part of the invention specific sole of footwear worn by individuals and associated interfacing invention tailored step-on device surfaces and permit proper positioning mating and omnidirectional on-demand break-away disengagement between footwear sole and interfacing step-on device surfaces. The connector is enhanced and applicable to devices other than designated pedals of the prior application including to stirrups, skis and devices such as skateboards, snowboards, and surfboards among other step-on devices and surfaces for the purpose of yielding proper positive foot positioning, slip and pull-resistance, anatomical motion compliance and on-demand omnidirectional release. In summary, the invention provides improved device engagement, combined contact and disengagement enhancement for expanded functional effectivity and performance, including more safety and comfort, and effective off-surface mobility.
  • Tarp Yaw Track Means For Rotors

    view source
  • US Patent:
    42881994, Sep 8, 1981
  • Filed:
    Dec 21, 1978
  • Appl. No.:
    5/971924
  • Inventors:
Alfred L. Weisbrich - Windsor CT
  • International Classification:
    F03D 304
  • US Classification:
    415 2R
  • Abstract:
Yaw track means for fluid impact impellers of a Toroidal Accelerator Rotor Platform (TARP) providing for revolution or yaw motion about a vertical centroidal TARP axis to a plurality of interconnected impact impellers supported and guided on said track means within the TARP's peripheral fluid flow augmentor channel. Said impact impellers, which may provide shaft output to electric generators, may actuate the yawing motion on said track means from a steady state position via differential forces acting upon said impellers, from directionally shifting flow impacting a TARP. Impeller yaw response motion will subsequently vector said impellers on said track means into a new steady state and impeller thrust force-balanced position within the TARP peripheral flow field for best energy recovery and energy extraction from said flow field.
