Space shuttle Discovery ready for voyage to museum

Museums are vying to get one of NASA's three retiring spaceships for display
"There are so many good choices across the country, so I don't really want any part and I'm not going to make a recommendation," Steven Lindsey, the commander of Discovery's final journey, told The Associated Press from orbit last month.
Discovery landed three minutes before noon, and when the shuttle rolled to a stop, Cmdr. Steven Lindsey called out, "For the final time: Wheels stop." Lindsey was the last of the six crew members to climb out of the shuttle.
With just a few hours left to circle the world, commander Steven Lindsey wondered aloud whether Kennedy Space Center was the only landing site under consideration. Mission Control replied that it was, and that the backup landing strip in California had not been activated.
