Abstract:

A computer controlled user-interactive display system interface through which the user may access stored search queries to database and then initiate selected searches executed by such queries. The interactive interface includes a displayed tree having at least one root node representative of a view into a table from the database and a plurality of subnodes under the root node, each subnode representative of a stored search query for said table view. The interface system also includes an implementation for executing a search represented by a subnode in response to a user selection of that subnode, and an expedient for presenting the results of said executed search on the display. The preferred display layout would have the tree displayed in one region of the display screen and the result of the executed search presented in a screen region next to the tree region. In this manner, the user could select a subnode representative of a particular search query, whereupon the search would be executed and the results presented to the user right next to his tree.

Abstract:

In a computer controlled user-interactive display system interface through which the user may easily access stored search queries to database via a displayed search query tree, there is formulation and presentation of the tree of queries in a manner enabling user-interactive rearrangement of the tree. The displayed tree has a plurality of selectable nodes, each node representative of a stored search query, arranged in a hierarchical order indicative of the order of searching by said query. An interactive user input is enabled to rearrange said tree to a different hierarchical order, and the resulting rearranged tree with the different hierarchical order is displayed. In this manner, different users of said interface may access data from said database in an order relative to their respective needs. The invention may be most advantageously used with queries in structured query language and in relational databases.

Abstract:

The present invention involves a computer system and method which implements a marketing management system. The computer comprises a processor, at least one database containing marketing information, and a database segmentation manager the segmentation manager is coupled to the processor and database. The database segmentation manager includes a node organizer for maintaining concatenated nodes defining a subset of data from the database. The node organizer includes a dataset node for creating a subset of said database according to query criteria and creating a temp table storing a portion of the fields and rows obtained by the query criteria. The segmentation manager further includes universe display software enabling an external user to view the database and nodes. The computer further has a graphic workflow manager capable of providing a visual representation with a plurality of items from the database and having a place and an order of a plurality of work tasks relating to the database.

Abstract:

The present invention involves a computer for implementing a complex database management system. A processor has at least one complex database with extraction software. The database extraction software is capable of creating a perspective based data model from a user selected data table of the database. A query is specified by user selection of attributes from a data table of the database. A perspective based data model is created from the user selected data base table of the database and related tables. The extraction software creates a query structure defining a plurality of paths providing a selected portion of the information in the database, which is presented to the user based on the perspective based data model. The query structure defines a plurality of paths and having a plurality of nodes, each of the nodes having a corresponding operand. A downward evaluation of the query structure is performed, proceeding from a starting object down downwardly through the paths. An upward evaluation of the query structure is performed, proceeding upwardly from the bottom of each path. The operands are resolved according to predetermined rules so that the number of evaluations of the nodes is less than the number of instances of each operand in the query structure.
