A camera includes a photosensor configured to capture light projected onto a surface of the photosensor and a lens system configured to refract light from an object field located in front of the camera to form an image of a scene at an image plane at or near the surface of the photosensor. The lens system comprises a plurality of refractive lens elements arranged along an optical axis of the camera. The lens system is configured to have a field-of-view (FOV) within a range of 110 to 140, and the lens system has an F-number within a range of 2.2 to 2.8.
An optical system includes a first light folding element (e.g., a prism), a second light folding element (e.g., another prism or a mirror), and a lens system located between the first light folding element and the second light folding element. In some cases, the lens system includes a lens stack having either four or five lens elements with refractive power. The first light folding element redirects light from an object field from a first axis to the lens system on a second axis. The plurality of refractive lens elements in the lens stack refract the light to the second light folding element. The second light folding element redirects the light from the second axis onto a third axis to form an image of the object field at an image plane. The optical system has a 35 mm equivalent focal length within a range of 85 to 160 mm.
Lens systems are described that may be used in small form factor cameras. An imaging lens system may include a front aperture and five lens elements, and provides a low F-number (=82 degrees), and short total track length (TTL). Lens system parameters and relationships may be selected at least in part to reduce, compensate, or correct for optical aberrations and lens artifacts and effects across the field of view.

Abstract:
An optical system for operation at a target near-infrared (NIR) wavelength in imaging an object onto an image plane. The system includes the following optical elements, arranged in order from object side to image side: a first lens, including a first material having a first index of refraction at the target NIR wavelength and having a positive refractive power; a second lens comprising the first material and having a meniscus shape; a third lens comprising the first material and having a meniscus shape; and a fourth lens, including a second material having a second index of refraction at the target NIR wavelength that is lower than the first index of refraction, and having front and rear surfaces of an aspheric form. The aspheric coefficients are chosen so that rays are not totally internally reflected within the fourth lens to impinge on the image plane.
