Abstract:

A dischargeable storage device instantaneously moveable between a store position and a discharge position. The dischargeable storage device includes a deck having a pair of pivotable trap doors. Each door has a guide post. The dischargeable storage device has a plunger having two guide channels. The plunger is moveable within the aperture. Each guide channel is adapted to cooperate with one of the guide posts such that when the plunger is depressed, the guide posts travel along the guide channels allowing the trap doors to open. An apparatus for for evenly distributing portions of food having a dischargeable storage device is also disclosed.

A sea anchor may be lifted from the sea bottom by remotely inflating an inflatable float connected to the anchor. The inflated float provides a buoyant lift force that automatically lifts the anchor to the water surface or assists a person in lifting the anchor to the surface. Abstract:

A holder for a corrugated paperboard test specimen is designed to orient the specimen in a vertical plane so that the specimen can be subjected to an edgewise compression test. The holder includes upper and lower clamps that grip the upper and lower surfaces of the specimen, leaving an intermediate section of the specimen unsupported; the specimen will experience a buckling action in the unsupported section as a response to progressively increased vertical loads. Each clamp includes a spring-biased clamping pad that can be retracted manually to permit insertion of a test specimen into the clamping space.

Abstract:

A method and apparatus for the precision cutting of corrugated paperboard panels into rectangular test specimens, having shapes of predetermined size. A reference rod is inserted through a selected flute in the corrugated paperboard panel, prior to the first cutting operation on the raw panel. The reference rod is then placed in a specific location on the cutting table surface, so that the internal flutes in the raw panel are oriented at a specific angle to the cutting plane of the cutter mechanism. This ensures that the first edge formed on the raw panel has a precise orientation relative to the panel flutes, such that the final precision cut panel specimen can be used as a test specimen for performing edge compression tests, and other tests, that are reproducible, and representative of the characteristics of the corrugated paperboard panel structure.
