Abstract:
An electrically powered vehicular device, such as a police radar detector, having an automatic reduced power feature, is disclosed.
A reset control circuit for an EAROM includes a zener diode coupled across the input of a voltage regulator which supplies operating voltage for the EAROM. The breakdown voltage of the zener diode is greater than the output voltage of the regulator. During turn-on, the reset voltage, which is taken from the zener diode, is held below the low point of its active region until the operating voltage has been established. During turn-off, the operating voltage is maintained until the reset voltage has become inactive, i. e. has dropped below its reset low voltage. The sequencing of operating voltage and reset voltage protects the data in the EAROM.

Abstract:
A low voltage sense circuit for a microprocessor controlled television receiver includes a 5 volt regulator having a large electrolytic capacitor coupled across its output, which is the power input terminal of a microprocessor. The microprocessor includes a sleep terminal for initiating operation in a minimum power consumption mode. The 12 volt input to the 5 volt regulator is coupled to the bias circuit of a PNP transistor that includes a Zener diode and which is in saturation as long as the input voltage to the 5 volt regulator is greater than the breakdown voltage of the Zener diode. The collector output of the transistor is connected to the sleep terminal of the microprocessor. When the transistor is driven out of saturation, an appropriate voltage change is developed at the sleep terminal for causing the microprocessor to switch to its low power sleep mode.

Abstract:
A television receiver includes an integrated circuit audio amplifier for having an inverting terminal, a noninverting terminal and an output terminal connected through a feedback resistor back to the inverting terminal. A first capacitor is coupled to the noninverting terminal and a second capacitor is coupled to the inverting terminal. A voltage divider normally establishes the first capacitor at a given potential. A source of regulated potential less than the given potential is coupled through a pair of series connected diodes to the first capacitor and through a single diode to the second capacitor, thus establishing two separate charging paths for said capacitors with the initial time constant of the path coupled to the noninverting terminal being longer than the initial time constant of the path coupled to the inverting terminal.

Ad of the Day AdWeek "The "Make a Better Commercial Than We Did" idea is, depending on your mood, charmingly self-deprecating, antagonistic or some combination of the two. Gimmicky as it is, though, it's a welcome change of pace from the warm-and-fuzzy tack of so many crowdsourcing concepts—even if, in the end, it seems rigged to produce disappointment."
