  • International Classification:
    C07H 1518
  • US Classification:
    536 174
  • Abstract:
The subject invention concerns a novel process for preparing novel N-oxide compounds of O-. beta. -D-glucuronides of an anticholinergic compound containing a tertiary nitrogen. Examples of suitable glucuronide starting materials are O-. beta. -D-glucuronides of tropicamide, scopolamine, atropine, hyoscyamine, and the like. The novel process gives high yields of the desired N-oxides which are useful as UV filters.

  • Assignee:
    Repligen Corporation - Cambridge MA
  • International Classification:
    C07K 1706
    C07K 318
  • US Classification:
    530402
  • Abstract:
The invention concerns unique immobilized immunoglobulin-binding protein materials which have a high binding capacity for immunoglobulins. Exemplified are preparations which have a high binding capacity for IgGl immunoglobulins. The preparations are made by covalently joining an immobilization support material to (a) an arginine-containing linker and (b) an immunoglobulin-binding protein material. The immunoglobulin-binding protein can be joined to the linker through an amide bond. Specifically disclosed is an immobilized protein A preparation. This immobilized protein A preparation has utility in the art of purifying monoclonal antibodies.

  • Use Of Hydroxylated Indoles As Dye Precursors

    view source
  • US Patent:
    47768576, Oct 11, 1988
  • Filed:
    Nov 21, 1986
  • Appl. No.:
    6/933649
  • Inventors:
    James Carroll - Cambridge MA
Cynthia D. Millis - Vancouver, CA
Walter C. Herlihy - Beverly MA
  • Assignee:
    Repligen Corporation - Cambridge MA
  • International Classification:
    A61K 713
    A61K 742
    A61K 744
  • US Classification:
    8423
  • Abstract:
The invention concerns a new system to dye hair and/or skin. The system comprises the use of a hydroxyindole dye precursor and sodium periodate. Advantageously, this dye system allows the dye to penetrate inside the hair fiber without coating the hair shaft and, thus, give a more pleasing and stable dye result.
  • Hair Dye Composition And Process For Using The Same

    view source
  • US Patent:
    47463228, May 24, 1988
  • Filed:
    May 11, 1987
  • Appl. No.:
    7/052172
  • Inventors:
Walter C. Herlihy - Watertown MA
  • Assignee:
    Repligen Corporation - Cambridge MA
  • International Classification:
    A61K 713
  • US Classification:
    8405
  • Abstract:
The subject invention concerns novel dye compositions and a process for dyeing keratinous fibers, for example, hair, to give a pleasing and stable colored product. The dye composition is a novel combination of three elements to give a dye that, unexpectedly, has highly desirable dyeing properties. This unique combination comprises (1) a suitable organic compound to assist dye dispersion, (2) dye precursors including dopamine, D-dopa, L-dopa, D,L-dopa, or analogs thereof, and (3) iodate or periodate. Desired color variations can be obtained by the use of appropriate color modifiers.

  • (+),(-)-Tropicamide O-.Beta.-B-Glucuronic Acid, Its Diastereomers, And Salts Thereof

    view source
  • US Patent:
    44436084, Apr 17, 1984
  • Filed:
    May 24, 1982
  • Appl. No.:
    6/381528
  • Inventors:
Walter C. Herlihy - Cambridge MA
Thomas H. Fraser - Newtonville MA
  • Assignee:
    Repligen Corporation - Cambridge MA
  • International Classification:
    C07H 1526
  • US Classification:
    546268
  • Abstract:
An in vitro enzymatic process which efficiently converts (+,-)-tropicamide to essentially pure (+), (-)-tropicamide O-. beta. -D-glucuronide. This product is then separated, advantageously, into the novel compounds (+)-tropicamide O-. beta. -D-glucuronide and (-)-tropicamide O-. beta. -D-glucuronide. The products disclosed herein absorb ultraviolet light, and, thus, can be incorporated into suitable plastic films which are then useful for screening out harmful ultraviolet radiation for the protection of packaged goods. Also the products can be used to protect the skin against burning by sunlight.
