Abstract:

An apparatus used for preventing heat transfer from a cup holding a hot beverage to the hand of a user contains a perimetric sleeve and a plurality of insulation units. The plurality of insulation units is connected to the perimetric sleeve providing thicker holding area for the user. The plurality of insulation units, which can vary in shape and size, is positioned in between a first edge of the perimetric sleeve and a second edge of the perimetric sleeve. Different mechanisms, such as a plurality of vents, can be integrated into each of the plurality of insulation units in order to improve the heat transfer process from the cup to the atmosphere. Moreover, the plurality of insulation units can also be connected to the perimetric sleeve in different methods to improve the overall efficiency of the apparatus.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a disposable insulator for a cup. The disposable insulator includes a sleeve including an insulating material to provide thermal insulation to the exterior of the cup, the sleeve having a top edge, a bottom edge, an inner surface, and an outer surface having a thickness therebetween, the sleeve being tapered from the top edge to the bottom edge and configured to surround at least a portion of the cup, and at least one finger pad made of the insulating material having a bottom edge, the finger pad being separable from the remainder of the sleeve and movable from a first position to a second position, in the first position, the bottom edge of the finger pad being proximate to the bottom edge of the sleeve, and in the second position, the finger pad being separated from at least a portion of the remainder of the sleeve and movable relative to the remainder of the sleeve, in the second position the finger pad being foldable relative to the sleeve with the bottom edge of the finger pad positionable proximate to the top edge of the sleeve, wherein, when in the second position, the folding of the finger pad increases the thickness of the insulation material present at the finger pad to create an area of increased insulation on the sleeve to provide additional thermal insulation to a portion of the exterior of the cup.

Abstract:

A laparoscopic tool used for closing fascia implements a folding mechanism, similar to single-fold or double-fold umbrellas, in combination with anchors and a graft membrane. The graft membrane is connected across a number of graft supports. The graft supports are radially oriented around a shaft. A trigger-actuated runner slides along the shaft; movement of the trigger-actuated runner causes the graft supports to unfold or fold, thanks to a plurality of stretchers. The graft supports include a first arm, a second arm, and a third arm which are connected to each other by hinges, allowing them to fold and unfold. An anchor is positioned at the end of the third arm, the anchor being able to securely lode into fascia. A grip and a trigger at a handle end of the shaft allow the double-double fold mechanism to be engaged and the anchors and graft membrane to be secured to fascia.

Abstract:

A method and system is provided for controlling the intensity and wavelength of light that is perceived by a user to achieve optimal contrasts when viewing medical images. A medical image reviewing system may include at least one medical image displaying monitor and a light-filtering optical eyewear. The light-filtering optical eyewear may include an eyewear frame, the eyewear frame including a first temple, a second temple, and a lens frame, the lens frame being centrally connected between the first temple and the second temple. The light-filtering optical eyewear may further include a first ambient light shield, the first ambient light shield being connected along the first temple. The light-filtering optical eyewear may further include a second ambient light shield, the second ambient light shield being connected along the second temple. The light-filtering optical eyewear may further include a light-filtering lens assembly configured to optimize the contrasts of the medical images being viewed by the user and maintain activation of rods in the eyes of the user for low light level viewing by the user.
