Abstract:
A remotely controllable locking mechanism for a combination key-operated deadbolt lock and door knob latching lock for a door. A housing for the operating parts is inserted in a mortised pocket or cavity in the latch edge of the door. The electronics to operate the mechanism sends a signal to a receiver installed in the wall near the locks. Power is supplied to solenoids to simultaneously activate the locking and unlocking mechanisms of the deadbolt and the door knob latching lock. Manual key overrides are provided for the deadbolt and for the latch.
A hand held calculator for quickly calculating the earned run average of a baseball pitcher or the batting average of a baseball player. The calculator employs a data input key board with whole number keys, fraction keys, function keys such as those required to perform mathematical functions and special function keys dedicated to the calculation of earned run and batting averages. The data input key board is interconnected to a visual display, in one embodiment a dedicated times 9 circuit and an arithmetic logic unit (ALU). The keys of the data input key board include indicia indicating their function.

Abstract:
A kit for retrofitting a door with a remotely controllable locking mechanism having a combination key-operated deadbolt lock and door knob latching lock for a door. A housing for the operating parts is insertable in a mortised pocket or cavity in the latch edge of the door or it may be attached to the exterior surface of the interior well of the door. The electronics to operate the mechanism sends a signal to a receiver installable in the wall near the locks. Power is supplied to solenoids to simultaneously activate the locking and unlocking mechanisms of the deadbolt and the door knob latching lock when the kit is assembled in the door. Manual key overrides are provided for the deadbolt and for the latch.
A jet pump system is shown that utilizes waste heat to provide heating and/or cooling. Waste heat diverted through a boiler causes a refrigerant to evaporate and expand for supersonic discharge through a nozzle thereby creating a vacuum in an evaporator coil. The vacuum draws the refrigerant in a gaseous state into a condensing section of a jet pump along with refrigerant from a reservoir in a subcooled liquid form. This causes condensation of the gas in a condensation section of the jet pump, while moving at constant velocity. The change in momentum of the fluid overcomes the system high side pressure. Some of the condensate is cooled by a subcooler. Refrigerant in a subcooled liquid state from the subcooler is fed back into the evaporator and the condensing section with an adequate supply being insured by the reservoir. The motive portion of the condensate is returned to the boiler sans subcooling. By proper valving start-up is insured, as well as the ability to switch from heating to cooling.
A portable cabinet for effecting the cooling of beverage containers by utilization of a thermoelectric cooling unit comprises a rectilinear cabinet having spaced inner and outer walls formed of plastic and having the space between filled with a foam plastic. An upper container insertion opening and a lower container removal opening is provided in the front wall of the cabinet. A core block is inserted within the inner walls of the container and cooperates with the inner wall surfaces of the cabinet to define a channel extending in a downward direction between the insertion opening and the discharge opening, thereby permitting an inserted cylindrical container to roll through the channel under the influence of gravity. Rotatable, insulated doors are provided in each of the openings and such doors are of generally cylindrical segment configuration but define a concave container receiving notch so that a container may be inserted into the cooling channel or moved therefrom without opening the cooling channel to an inflow of ambient air. The rear wall of the cabinet has an inclined insulated section.
An apparatus for mixing and dispensing particulate-laden liquid or immiscible liquid, samples from a container or vessel. The apparatus is attached to the top of the vessel with a mixing tube extending downwardly into the liquid sample. A valve piston disposed in the tube may be moved from a closed position to an open position while the liquid sample is continuously agitated and circulated through the mixing tube. The agitation system lifts a portion of the liquid sample through the valve piston and out a discharge port for eventual assaying.
