Abstract:
A method of evacuating hot gases produced in a current breaking operation by a high voltage circuit breaker () which comprises a metal outer tank () filled with insulating gas, a casing () having gas outlet ports () and arranged inside the metal outer tank (), with which it is in communication via the said ports, characterized in that insulating gas (GI) is aspirated from inside the casing () in a direction parallel to the flow of the hot gases (GC) produced by the current breaking operation, so as to mix the gases inside the casing () before they are evacuated, through the said gas outlet ports () of the casing, into the interior of the metal outer tank (). The invention also relates to an associated high voltage circuit breaker, which includes means () for aspirating insulating gas from the interior of the casing (), in a direction parallel to the hot gas stream.

Abstract:
A sleeve for retaining one or more washers in abutting relation to a face of a fastening means is disclosed. The sleeve includes a main body having a top portion which is angled at a top end to form a ridge, and a bottom portion which includes an annular lip that extends radially inward from an inner surface thereof. The ridge is designed to rest against a flange of the fastening means, and the annular lip is designed to retain the washer in abutting relation to the face of the fastening means. The sleeve partially surrounds and loosely holds the washer and the fastening means together, and becomes detached from the fastening means and the washer after installation of the fastening means. Also disclosed is a fastener assembly including the sleeve, a fastening means, and a washer, and methods of manufacturing the fastener assembly.

Abstract:
A manufactured piece of a tank made by casting or molding for a high-voltage circuit breaker is provided. It comprises a hollow body with at least one wall extending longitudinally along a main axis to delimit a cavity with two ends, a top and a bottom; at least one opening in the top of the body; and at least one particle trap in the bottom of the body for collecting particles. The particle trap is a groove extending between two set apart points belonging to a plan perpendicular to the main axis, the groove preferably extending in a plan perpendicular to the main axis.
Exhaust Diffuser For A Gas-Insulated High Voltage Circuit Breaker
- Baden-Suisse, CH James M. MAIN - West Alexander PA, US Steven GROSICK - Stockdale PA, US Andrew CHOVANEC - Blairsville PA, US
International Classification:
H01H 33/74 H01H 33/56
Abstract:
A gas exhaust diffuser for a circuit breaker, comprising a first casing extending longitudinally along a principal axis with an open end to allow gas to enter and a closed end, and a second casing coaxial to the first casing, extending along the principal axis, with at least one outlet to allow gas to escape, the closed end of the first casing being arranged in the second casing and the first casing having at least two radial openings near its closed end to provide a fluid communication between the first and second casing. A plurality of incurved elements are positioned radially in the second casing at the at least one radial opening to create a rotation of an entering exhaust flow in a plan perpendicular to the principal axis, thereby generating a substantially helicoidally-shaped exhaust flow path in the second casing.
