Abstract:

A surface mountable multiformat card reader for vending equipment is disclosed. According to one aspect, the subject matter described herein includes a surface mountable card reader that comprises a mounting bracket for attaching to a vending machine. The surface mountable card reader also includes a card reader housing that extends outward from the mounting bracket. The housing, which includes a channel spaced outwardly from the mounting bracket for receiving a magnetic stripe card, comprises a radio frequency (RF) proximity reader that is adapted for receiving data via an RF signal from a contactless card. The housing also comprises a magnetic stripe reader that is adapted for receiving data from magnetic stripe cards that pass through the channel.

Abstract:

Methods and systems for detecting lateral intrusion of a secure electronic component enclosure are disclosed. According to one system, the system includes a secure enclosure for enclosing at least one electronic component. The secure enclosure includes a first and a second printed circuit board (PCB) and a security ring sandwiched between the first and second PCBs defining an interior region for enclosing the at least one electronic component. The PCBs define opposite sides of the enclosure and the security ring defines lateral surfaces of the enclosure. The lateral surfaces defined by the security ring are wrapped by at least two wires that define at least two circuits. An intrusion detection module detects an intrusion of the secure enclosure based on a condition of the at least two circuits.

Abstract:

An apparatus for cleaning backplane optical connectors is described herein. According to one embodiment, an apparatus includes a cleaner guide having a frontend and a backend, where the cleaner guide has a cleaning channel extended from the frontend to the backend and the backend includes a mounting bracket for removably mounting a connector adapter. When the cleaner guide is inserted into a slot of the chassis, the connector adapter is aligned and engaged with an optical connector disposed on a backplane of the network chassis, such that a cleaner tool can be inserted from the frontend of the cleaner guide, through the cleaning channel, to reach the connector adapter of the backend for cleaning the optical connector, without having to remove an adjacent circuit pack of the network chassis. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.

Abstract:

A tool for dust cap removal/replacement and optical cleaner extender is described herein. According to one embodiment, a tool includes an elongate body having a frontend, a backend, and a tip member attached to the frontend of the elongate body, the tip member having a locking mechanism. When the tip member is pushed against a dust cap covering an optical connector mounted on a backplane of a network chassis, the locking mechanism interlocks with the dust cap thereby capturing the dust cap for removing the dust cap from the optical connector. The elongate body is long enough such that the tip member can be inserted into a slot of the network chassis from a front panel to reach the dust cap of the optical connector mounted on the backplane of the network chassis, without having to remove an adjacent circuit pack of the network chassis.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a gas generating engine for driving a beneficial agent dispensing device. The engine comprising (a) a solid composition comprising an acidic compound or a basic compound, or a combination thereof, and (b) a means for maintaining substantially constant the surface area of the solid composition exposed to a reservoir fluid comprising water, or water and an acidic compound, or water and a basic compound, wherein in operation, the solid composition is exposed to the reservoir fluid which dissolves the solid composition and causes it to generate a gas, the gas being a driving fluid to dispense a beneficial agent. The present invention further provides a fluid driven dispensing device for delivering an agent into an environment of use, the device be driven by the gas generating engine.
