Abstract:

An information handling system includes a network hardware device and a processor. The network hardware device transmits Internet Protocol (IP) datagram packets. Each of the IP datagram packets includes a respective user datagram protocol (UDP) packet. The processor detects a UDP packet. The UDP packet includes a real-time protocol (RTP) packet. The processor inspects one or more fields of the RTP packet, and determines whether a conferencing application generated the RTP packet. In response to a conferencing application generating the RTP packet, the processor determines whether the RTP packet is a real-time audio/video packet, and determines whether an audio/video session is in-progress. In response to the audio/video session being in-progress, the processor determines a network traffic policy for the RTP packet, and the network hardware device to transmit the UDP packet encapsulating the RTP packet based on the determined network traffic policy.

Abstract:

C-state transitions due to software timer interrupts can be minimized. A timer interrupt synchronizer can be deployed on a computing device to function as an intermediary between software components that rely on timer interrupts and a timer interrupt architecture of the computing device. When the software components request timer interrupts, the timer interrupt synchronizer can ensure that timer interrupts having the same frequency can be synchronized to occur at the same time. As a result of this synchronization, a CPU can experience fewer C-state transitions due to the timer interrupts.

Systems and methods for managing the degradation of IHS performance due to software installations are described. In some embodiments, an Information Handling System (IHS) may include a processor and a memory coupled to the processor, the memory having program instructions stored thereon that, upon execution, cause the IHS to: identify a workload; in response to the identification, configure a performance measurement; calculate a level of performance degradation of the IHS based, at least in part, upon the performance measurement; and in response to the level of performance degradation meeting a threshold value, provide an indication to a user or Information Technology (IT) administrator.

Abstract:

Methods and systems are provided for supporting operation of a plurality of software plugins of an IHS (Information Handling System). Incoming plugin commands are received and stored to a queue of a plurality of progressively weighted queues. The weighted queue is selected for storing the incoming plugin command based on a time constraint associated with the command. A proximate command is selected for processing from a queue of the plurality of weighted queues based on a weighted time for processing the proximate command. A recipient plugin of the proximate command is determined. Any plugin groups that the recipient is a member of are identified. The plugins of the first plugin group, including the recipient plugin, are activated to allocate use of IHS resources to the activated plugin.

Abstract:

Storage drives can be configured to provide a component ID. An update tool on an end user device can be configured to retrieve this component ID in response to receiving a catalog that defines available firmware updates and to use the retrieved component ID to dynamically identify which firmware update applies to a particular storage drive. The firmware update can then be installed on the storage drive. The update tool may also perform a health assessment to dynamically determine whether the storage drive's health is sufficient to proceed with a firmware update.

A system includes a systems manager configured to retrieve an update package that includes an update installer for updating the information handling system, and to install the update package with the update installer. The update installer retrieves an operating system build number from the information handling system, and parses a metadata file included in the update package to determine a device group based on the operating system build number, wherein the device group includes the applicable updates for the information handling system. The update installer determines a mode of installation based on the operating system build number of the device group, determines a sequence of installation of the applicable updates, and installs the applicable updates according to the sequence of installation and the mode of installation.

An enterprise computing management system includes an on-premise computing management system for deploying an update to a first resource and for triggering synchronization of the update to a second resource after deploying the update. The first resource is managed by the on-premise computing management system. A cloud-based computing management system deploys the update to the second resource that is managed by the cloud-based computing management system. In response to the triggering of the synchronization of the update to the second resource, a processor retrieves metadata information of the update, generates a catalog based on the metadata information of the update, publishes the catalog to a repository, and deploys the update to the second resource.
