The young man depicted in the ARC's website, that was awarded by Albany and Senator Libous was a consumer of mine. Together we made strides in his life. I well deserve the credit for many things in this young man's life. He is one of my great accomplishments as a Medicaid Service Coordinator. This position was one I did not take lightly. Consumer centered was the focus of my job. I have the ability and drive to enhance the lives of those I serve. Seeing the world through the eyes of an individual with special needs takes patience, empathy, understanding and caring. I co-organized a therapeutic Hip-Hop dance class for consumers that started with 8 and ended with 14 for eight 6-week sessions. The results of such an activity created a better sense of self, pride, inclusion and the ability to bring out a side of them that may have otherwise never surfaced. lives
