Bill Simmons's next project, The Ringer, sounds a lot like Grantland II
The release clarified the roles to be assumed by the former Grantland staffers who made the leap with Simmons: Sean Fennessey (editor in chief), Chris Ryan (executive editor), Mallory Rubin (deputy editor) and Juliet Litman (managing editor). It also announced a number of new hires, including former
request for The Ringer with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. New hires for the website include Craig Gaines as copy chief and Bryan Curtis as editor-at-large. Earlier hires for The Ringer include Sean Fennessey as editor-in-chief, Chris Ryan as executive editor and Mallory Rubin as deputy editor.
Simmons has been assembling a team of editors, writers and podcast producers for several months. Many of the hires, like editor in chief Sean Fennessey, are alums of Grantland, the ESPN-backed site that Simmons headed until last spring.
