Abstract:
A power conditioner includes power converters for supplying power to a load, a set of selection switches corresponding to the power converters for selectively connecting the fuel-cell stack to the power converters, and another set of selection switches corresponding to the power converters for selectively connecting the battery to the power converters. The power conveners output combined power that substantially optimally meets a present demand of the load.

Abstract:
An electronic ballast and startup method including an electronic ballast operably connected to a lamp having a lamp filament, the electronic ballast having a timer () generating an inverter control signal () and a preheat control signal (); a converter () receiving AC power and generating DC power (); a self-oscillating inverter () receiving DC power () and being operable to provide lamp power () to the lamp, the self-oscillating inverter () being responsive to the inverter control signal (); and a filament preheater () receiving DC power () and being operable to provide filament power () to the lamp filament, the filament preheater () being responsive to the preheat control signal (). When AC power is initially applied, preheat control signal () directs the filament preheater () to provide filament power (), and inverter control signal () directs the self-oscillating inverter () not to provide lamp power ().

Abstract:
A PFC converter () is disclosed that includes a voltage rectifier circuit () and a voltage regulator circuit (). The PFC converter () also includes an inductor () having a plurality of auxiliary windings () coupled to the voltage rectifier circuit () and the voltage regulator circuit (). One of the auxiliary windings () is arranged to supply a start up voltage (V1), during a start up stage, using the voltage rectifier circuit ()to the voltage regulator circuit (). Another of the auxiliary windings ()is arranged to supply a voltage (V1), during a steady-state stage, using the voltage rectifier circuit () to the voltage regulator circuit ().

Abstract:
In accordance with an embodiment, a method in a voltage converter includes, in each of successive drive cycles, switching on for an on-period a first electronic switch connected in series with a primary winding of a transformer. Before first electronic switch is switched on, the transformer is pre-magnetized for a pre-magnetizing period, where there is a first delay time between an end of the pre-magnetizing period and a beginning of the on-period.
