  • Abstract:
A cutting board and knife set is disclosed in which the cutting board has a handle which is recessed to receive the handle of a knife having a complementary configuration to the recess. The recess in the cutting board handle is characterized by a pair of opposed locking tongues which fit into opposed locking recesses or tongue slots in the knife handle. A keyhole is provided also in the cutting board handle for hanging the same on the wall while the knife is lodged in its nesting configuration. At the end of the cutting board opposite the handle, a bevel type scoop is provided in order to pick up pieces of food stuffs that may have fallen off of the cutting board onto a working surface. The material for the cutting board is a high density polypropylene which resists scarring, and is in injection moldable, thereby providing a cutting surface which is pebbled for long life, easing cleaning in a dish washer, and good sanitation.

  • Method For Processing And Filling A Dough Product

    view source
  • US Patent:
    41121279, Sep 5, 1978
  • Filed:
    Jul 9, 1976
  • Appl. No.:
    5/703918
  • Inventors:
Samuel J. Popeil - Chicago IL
  • Assignee:
Popeil Brothers, Inc. - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    A21D 802
  • US Classification:
    426283
  • Abstract:
A dough processor is disclosed in which a pair of parallel rollers are geared for coacting space relationship to pass a predetermined amount of dough therebetween. Means are provided to adjust the spaced relationship between the rollers, and in fixed dimensional relationship each to the other so that firm spacing takes place as the dough is repeatedly processed between the rollers. A preferred ratchet type mechanism for adjusting the space between the rollers is provided. Gear reduction for the handle permits use by the average homemaker, and optionally the same may be power driven. The method contemplates the steps of sequentially and repeatedly passing the preformed amount of dough through the rollers, and adjusting the space closer and closer until the desired thickness is achieved. Thereafter the thus flatened dough is placed over a mold having upstanding cutting edges, the rollers spaced to pass the mold in cutting edge contact with the upper roller, and the mold is passed therethrough and the finished product removed.

    40799174, Mar 21, 1978
  • Filed:
    Oct 14, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/621852
  • Inventors:
Samuel J. Popeil - Chicago IL
  • Assignee:
Popeil Brothers, Inc. - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    B01F 718
    B01F 730
  • US Classification:
    366244
  • Abstract:
A whipper is shown having a crank secured to a gear housing assembly which in turn orbitally drives a beater plate, the beater plate having three beaters secured thereto in removable relationship. The gear housing assembly is proportioned to fit atop a substantially cylindrical bowl, and the beaters with their included tines are proportioned to extend downwardly in open ended fashion. The gear housing assembly includes a housing which is removably secured to the combination of the beater plate and the ring gear plate by means of a bayonet-type fastener at the periphery of both which coacts with the housing, and more particularly the crank to removably secure the same. An ejector is provided within the housing to assist in removing the crank, and free the housing for rotation with respect to the combination of the ring gear plate and beater plate and associated gears to separate the same for purposes of cleaning. The beaters are secured to the beater gears by means of a beater spline which coacts with a snap-head-type fastener at the upper portion of the beater. Additionally, an egg separator may be used to coactingly engage the bowl.
  • Fish Bait Composition

  • US Patent:
    39314146, Jan 6, 1976
  • Filed:
    Jul 12, 1974
  • Appl. No.:
    5/488218
  • Inventors:
Samuel J. Popeil - Chicago IL
  • Assignee:
Popeil Bros., Inc. - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    A01K 8500
    A23L 1325
  • US Classification:
    426 1
  • Abstract:
A cohesive mass is prepared from substantially dry fish food mixture, containing at least fish meal, pulverized freeze dried fish eggs, and water. The resulting fish bait composition is further modified by adding a water activated natural plant binder such as a vegetable gum, a starch, a dextrin or other like material. The pulverized fish eggs are water activated to contribute natural animal binding materials. The resulting mass has sufficient cohesiveness to be retained on the hook during casting or throwing movement of the hook and during water entry of the baited hook. The fish bait composition thereafter undergoes controlled dispersion in the water to attract the fish.
  • Retractable Net

  • US Patent:
    40316505, Jun 28, 1977
  • Filed:
    Jan 9, 1976
  • Appl. No.:
    5/647805
  • Inventors:
Samuel Joseph Popeil - Chicago IL
  • Assignee:
Popeil Brothers, Inc. - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    A01K 7700
  • US Classification:
    43 12
  • Abstract:
A retractable net is disclosed having a handle and a flexible band forming net hoop. A slide moves essentially from one end of the handle to the other, and contains the ends of the flexible band. A spreader assembly at the net end of the handle shapes the band as it is extended and retracted into a substantially bilaterally symmetrical configuration from a maximum opening to a minimum opening. In addition, a lock having a cam action type toggle mechanism is provided interiorly of the spreader. A paddle bag is formed to fit over the net in its small or retracted configuration thereby securing the netting from falling and sagging, and serving as a paddle for the boat in which the fisherman may be using the net in its fishing configuration.
