Abstract:

A method for producing a decorated ovoid figurine consists of the steps of bonding the small end of a truncated cone made of decorative sheet material to the surface of an ovoid shape, such as an egg or egg-shaped object, whereby the larger end of the cone forms a stable support base for the ovoid; and bonding cut shapes of decorative sheet material representing caricatures of body parts to the surface of the ovoid, whereby it becomes a figurine.

Abstract:

A fiber optics illuminator includes a source of illumination on an optical axis and an optical element coaxially disposed on the optical axis, forming an image of the illumination source at an image plane. A housing encloses the source of illumination, the optical element and the image plane. A thermal control bushing is disposed on the optical axis at an exit aperture in the housing and includes an elongated, generally cylindrical glass rod coaxially disposed on the optical axis, having a first end at the image plane of the optical element, receiving illumination and heat, and a second end external to the housing. The thermal control bushing includes a means for dissipating heat from the glass rod by radiation outside the housing and by convection aided by a ventilating fan. An elongated fiber optics light guide has a light receiving end coaxially disposed adjacent to the second end of the glass rod, and a remote light-emitting end. In a preferred embodiment the glass rod includes a series of conjugate refocus planes spaced from the image plane at its light receiving end, and has a length such that the illumination at its light emitting end is substantially out of focus adjacent to the fiber optics light guide.

Abstract:

A kneeling aid to facilitate kneeling has planar, rectangular, platform, the upper surface provided with recessed storage compartments bounded by upstanding ribs, and a pair of three-sided recesses bounded by upstanding ribs conforming to the size and shape of a pair of resilient concave and knee-conforming pads, each three-sided recess having its fourth side open along one side of the platform. A recessed socket is provided at each corner of each end of the rectangle and an inverted U-shaped strut is installed at each end of the platform, each strut having a pair of depending legs engaged into the respective recessed sockets at each end of the rectangle. A preferred embodiment has the rectangular platform molded as a hollow plastic part including an upstanding beam extending between the recessed sockets on one long side of the rectangle, has the inverted U-shaped struts made of metal tubing, and has a tubular resilient handle disposed about the base portions connecting the legs of the strut.
