Article Having A No-Slip Surface And Method Of Applying Same
The present direction is directed to an article having a surface which operates as a substrate for receiving a no-slip surface or surface treatment and a method of applying the no-slip surface to the article. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the no-slip surface is formed from a conventional thermographic powder, such as a granular thermoplastic resin, which is deposited along the substrate. The powdered substrate is then subjected to heat sufficient to melt or soften the powder and adhere it onto the substrate. In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the no-slip surface is formed using a static cling material to provide a removable no-slip surface.

The present invention is directed to an article formed from a generally see-thru sheet of material and having a two-sided marking thereon and a method of applying the two-sided markings to the article. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the article comprises a see-thru sheet of material having a top face and markings thereon and a bottom face such that when viewed from the top face the markings are of a first color and when viewed from the bottom face the markings are of a second color. In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the article formed by the process comprising the steps of selecting a sheet of material having a top face and a bottom face, positioning a two-color foil over the sheet of material, and applying heat and pressure to the two-color foil to bond the foil to selected areas of the sheet to form markings such that when viewed from the top face the markings are of one color and when viewed from the bottom face the markings are of another color.

The surface treatment of the present invention is formed from a thermoplastic powder that can be used for a large variety of applications including, but not limited to, containers, flooring, table tops, bathroom fixtures, such as tubs, shower stalls, and the like, trays, coasters, tray supports, tools, measuring devices, musical instrument parts, motorized vehicle surfaces, building structures and components, bridges, railroad and mass transportation articles, and instruments. Further, such surface treatments having illuminating materials and/or reflective materials can be used for flooring or wall surfaces or on articles for operating in darken conditions or conditions with limited visibility.
