Ealan Wingate - Director, Gagosian Gallery BROOKLYN NEW YORK Artist ROBIN ANTAR WINS PRESTIGIOUS WYNN NEWHOUSE GRANT Wynn NewHouse Foundation January 2013, NY – Brooklyn, New York artist and sculptor Robin Antar (www.rantar.com) has won the prestigious WYNN NEWHOUSE Award, it was just announced by the adjudicating committee on January 18th. The Wynn Newhouse awards (www.wnewhouseawards.com) are given to top professional fine artists who happen to have disabilities, in memory of collector Wynn Newhouse, who had a disability and was aware of the many creative contributions made by persons having disabilities. More than 35 artists have been nominated this year. In total eight artists were given the award in the form of monetary grants.
This year’s judges for the Wynn Newhouse Awards were comprised of a prestigious panel including J. David Farmer, Director, Dahesh Museum; Mark Parsons, Artist, Pratt Institute; Kathryn Price, Curator, Williams College Museum of Art; and, Ealan Wingate, Director, Gagosian Gallery.
Winning artists are invited to participate in an exhibition of their work at the Palitz Gallery in Manhattan, and will be on view from April – June 2013. An informal reception for current and past winners and judges and friends of the program will be held at the Gallery in May.
