Abstract:

A detailing tool for processing electronic component substrate includes a supporting frame, a substrate carrier movable on the supporting frame to receive and secure the substrate during processing by the tool, and a pair of cutter assembly attached to said supporting frame for removing tails on said substrate. The cutter assemblies self-align âtoâ the substrate during initial substrate loading in a processing area of the tool. Each cutter assembly includes a pair of spaced, translatable and opposed cutters that simultaneously move towards each another while removing the tails from the corners of the substrate that remains stationary. The pair of cutter assemblies are symmetrically attached to the supporting frame with respect to an axis for indexing the substrate. Thus, the invention provides a tool for cutting tails from opposite corners on the substrate edge automatically and simultaneously during processing.

Abstract:

A method of assembling an interconnect device assembly which consists of cylindrical resilient wire bundles captured within a carrier. In a step of the method, the interconnect device assembly is placed in a fixture and the ends of the resilient wire bundles are deformed by shaping dies in the fixture so that the resilient wire bundles now have a dog bone shape. The dog bone shape of the resilient wire bundles prevents the resilient wire bundles from being partially or totally dislodged during handling and transit.

Abstract:

The present invention is directed to a novel method of fabricating and composition for chalcogenide cathode-active electrodes. The method comprises the steps of: (a) combining the cathode-active material in particulate form with about 0. 1 to about 10 percent by weight of a neutralized sulfonated ionomer, based on the total weight of the cathode-active material and the ionomer, and about 10 to about 90 percent by weight of solvent, based on the total weight of the cathode-active material, ionomer and solvent, wherein said solvent is a cosolvent system which includes one or more solvents selected from the group consisting of normal and aromatic hydrocarbons and one or more solvents selected from the group consisting of alcohols, amines, amides, nitriles, nitro-compounds, lactones and acetols; (b) forming the desired electrode configuration with the resulting mixture; and (c) drying the formed electrode so as to volatilize the solvent. The composition consists essentially of (a) a chalcogenide material in a particulate form consisting of one or more compounds selected from a group consisting of the sulfides, selenides and tellurides of titanium, zirconium, hafnium, niobium, tantalum, molybdenum and vanadium; and (b) less than about 10 weight percent of a neutralized sulfonated elastomeric polymer having less than about 6 mole percent neutralized sulfonate groups per 100 grams of said polymer.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to a functional screen assay for nonsense or frameshift mutations that allows genes of interest to be scanned. This assay is based on the cloning of segments of the gene of interest in-frame with a sequence coding for a marker followed by screening for the level of expression of the marker. Individuals at risk for any one of a number of genetic diseases, which are associated with such nonsense or frameshift mutations, can be quickly screened for chain-terminating mutations introduced by these nonsense and frameshift mutations. At present, scanning of many genes for mutations requires significant effort because the genes are large and most mutations are unique. Therefore, this assay offers a powerful option for the diagnosis of many genetic diseases.

This invention relates to the injection moldable and extrusion type electrically conductive polymeric blend compositions having a viscosity at 200. degree. C. at 0. 73 sec. sup. -1 of less than about 8. times. 10. sup. 5 poises. The compositions used for elastomeric articles include a neutralized sulfonated polymer; graphite fiber at a concentration of about 1 to about 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of neutralized sulfonated polymer; and a preferential plasticizer at about less than 60 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the neutralized sulfonated polymer. The composition may also optionally include fillers, oils and other additives. These blend compositions can be readily processed due to their superior rheological properties on conventional plastic fabrication equipment, especially on low and high pressure injection molding or extrusion equipment into electrically conductive articles having excellent physical and electrical properties.
