Abstract:

A motion picture reel is comprised of separable components including a hub formed with a hollow central, cylindrical sleeve and a pair of side retainers on opposing sides of the hub that hold the film therebetween. Each of the side retainers is provided with a central core located on its inner surface. Each core has a generally cylindrical configuration. A prong is formed to project longitudinally from each core parallel to and at a spaced distance from the axis of rotation. A corresponding prong receiving socket is defined in the core diametrically opposite the prong. The cores of the side retainers are inserted into the central, tubular sleeve of the hub so that the prong of each core enters the prong receiving socket or cavity of the other core. A slight counterrotation of the side retainers relative to each other latches the hooks on the ends of the prongs into the sockets. Releaseable hub latching fingers on each of the retainers engage the side retainers with the hub as the hooks of the prongs are engaged in the sockets.

Abstract:

A hollow, cylindrical, handle is substantially permanently connected to a end piece by insertion into the distal end of the handle of a first axial section of the end piece and inwardly deforming portions of the handle wall inwardly into indentations formed in the outer surface of the end piece. The end piece includes a shoulder at the juncture of the first section with a second section limiting the extent of insertion of the end piece into the handle and the indentations are formed, preferably on diametrically opposite sides of the first section, at a known axial distance from the shoulder. Visible indicia are placed on the outer surface of the second section in axial alignment with the indentations. The positions at which the handle wall is inwardly deformed is determined by the known distance from the shoulder (distal end of the handle) and in axial alignment with the indicia on the second section. In the disclosed embodiment, the indentations are elongated in a direction perpendicular to the central axis of the end piece and the visible indicia comprise flat surfaces in planes parallel to the central axis in an otherwise generally cylindrical outer surface of the second section.

Abstract:

A motion picture reel is provided with releaseably engageable and disengageable components including a pair of identical, laterally confining retaining members and a hub located therebetween. The retaining members and the hub are all separable from each other. Each retaining member has a prong with a catch on it and a latching member with a latch defined on it located diametrically opposite the prong. The latching members each have radially outwardly diverging side walls. The latching members fit snugly into truncated sector-shaped cavities formed between radial spoke partitions between the central core and the rim of the hub. Stiffening webs extended transversely across the hub between some of the spoke partitions and have apertures in them that allow passage of the prongs through the stiffening webs and into engagement with the latching lips of the latching projections beyond. The tips of the prongs are accessible for release through the open bases of the latching members.

A method of connecting a hollow handle having deformable sections to a tool supporting end piece having one ore more indentations. Abstract:

Images of two fields of view of one or two scenes in a radiation sensor are generated by use of a single detector and common signal process circuitry. The two imaged fields of view, typically a narrow view and a wide view, are provided by two independent telescopes (18, 20), and are combined by use of a field-of-view switch (32) comprising a chopper wheel (34) or an optical switch in synchronized operation with a mirror scanner (22). The same field-of-view switch is employed in performing detector non-uniformity correction functions, such as automatic responsivity control and direct current restoration. Folding optics couples scanned radiation from the scanner to the switch. An additional field of view may be introduced by displacing a folding mirror of the folding optics. Also, a portion of a reflecting surface of the switch may be tilted to admit a reference beam of radiation useful in performing the functions of responsivity control and D. C. restoration.

An optical sensor system (10), including a two degree of freedom gyro (32) and a beam expander (38) having a predetermined magnification level, is rigidly secured internally to a housing (20). Abstract:

A process and apparatus for cleaning particles from the surfaces of MOS-LSI die is disclosed. The present invention involves cleaning apparatus that includes a process tank, a manifold fixture that secures a plurality of universal inserts having variable die size cavities and a multi-nozzle agitator assembly that attaches to said manifold fixture having means for directing pressurized gas and fluid means. The die inserts are selected, fitted and secured in the cavities of the manifold fixture. The dice are installed and secured in the die inserts. The loaded manifold fixture is positioned over the process tank where the dice are rinsed with deionized water, rinsed with alcohol, inspected, scrubbed, pressure rinsed with deionized water, pressure rinsed with alcohol and dried with nitrogen, inspected and secured in clean die trays.
