Abstract:

A method for allowing a mobile of a wireless communication simultaneous access to multiple data networks coupled to the wireless communication network. A network interface is created between network controlling elements, such as Base Station Controllers, of the wireless communication network. The network interface allows various communication channels established by the mobile to be routed to network controlling elements that are coupled to the various data networks. Information from various established communication channels are routed between various network controlling elements. Thus, a mobile is able to communicate simultaneously with different data networks. The network interface also allows handoffs to be executed with virtually no interruptions and no loss of information being exchanged between the mobile and system equipment involved in the handoff.

Abstract:

Methods and systems for providing interconnection between network operation environments are disclosed in some embodiments. This can include providing interoperability between 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards environments. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed that includes receiving a request from a mobile device for service at a gateway, determining a mode of operation for the mobile device by inspecting an incoming message, wherein the mode of operation includes 3GPP and 3GPP2, establishing a connection using a proxy mobile internet protocol (PMIP), where the type of connection established is dependent on the mode of operation, providing an IP address to a mobile device based on the mode of operation and the parameters associated with the mode of operation, and communicating with an authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) server operating in accordance with the mode of operation.

A method and apparatus are provided for reducing delivery time latency in data transferred between a packet data service network and mobile data device. Abstract:

A locking system for a flood cover having a rigid mouth. The system has a pair of oppositely opposed locking mechanisms. Each leg mechanism includes a stiff leg portion whose length is greater than the air space that would result if the closure over which the cover is to be placed were centered in the cover. A spring holds the stiff leg essentially parallel to the mouth before the cover is placed over the closure. As the cover is placed over the closure the stiff leg pivots and the tension of the spring increases.

A grooming ring on a grooming ring carrier in which the grooming ring extends around a grooming space while being displaced axially to enable all surfaces of the ring to be free of obstruction in at least one direction laterally of a surface of the carrier from which the ring extends. Abstract:

A pedestal-type closure for use as a buried telephone cable terminal closure comprises a rear section and upper and lower front covers, each of which is formed from the same basic plastic extrusion. The covers and the rear section are secured in edge-to-edge relationship. The upper ends of the rear section and of the upper cover are formed with cooperating caps that form a venting structure for venting moisture from within the interior of the pedestal and which tend to form a barrier against the entrance of insects into the pedestal. The lower cover has a snap-on arrangement which facilitates assembly, and the rear section has spacers which facilitate mounting of the pedestal against a vertical surface, and wherein the spacers are difficult to dislodge from the pedestal, thereby inhibiting vandalism.
