Abstract:

Immune function of an animal can be modulated by administration of a composition that includes beta glucan. The beta glucan can be derived from , which provides a form of beta glucan that is different from other organisms, where the beta glucan is predominantly unbranched beta-(1,3)-glucan. Beta glucan can also be complexed with a metal, such as zinc, and/or can combined with an animal feed component to form an animal feed composition. Use of such compositions can improve the well being of an animal, and may augment or even replace the use of antibiotics in certain circumstances.

Abstract:

A system for treating whole stillage includes a stillage tank, a separation system in communication with the stillage tank and configured to separate the whole stillage into a wet cake portion and a thin stillage portion, and a primary filtration system in communication with the separation system. The primary filtration system can be configured to separate the thin stillage into a primary concentrate and a primary permeate. A secondary filtration system in communication with the primary filtration system can be configured to further purify the primary permeate. A water reclamation system in communication with the primary and/or secondary filtration system can remove water from the permeate. An additive can be added to the primary permeate to precipitate phosphorus-containing minerals and corn oil can be advantageously extracted from the primary concentrate. Protein-enriched animal feeds can be generated from dehydration of the primary concentrate.

Abstract:

An organic waste and wastewater treatment method and system that quickly and cost-effectively removes most organic materials from a waste or wastewater while generating a gaseous byproduct that can be used for heat or electricity generation. The method and system begins with a maceration and/or screening step that reduces waste particle size. Then, the waste is pumped through orifice(s) under high pressure to emulsify the waste and covert it to a slurry. The slurry is then treated in a horizontal anaerobic digester with flexible support material for microbial attachment to remove organic materials.
