Abstract:

A computer implemented method is applied to convert a formatted document or text to an ordered list of words. The formatted document is first partitioned into first and second data structures stored in a memory of a computer. The first data structure stores text fragments, and the second data structure stores code fragments of the formatted document. Adjacent text fragments are concatenated to form possible ordered word lists. Possible words are matched against a dictionary of representative words. A best ordered word list having the fewest number of words is selected from the possible ordered word lists.

Abstract:

The present invention is a media player and media player interface. The media player includes a storage unit for various types of media, media related data, and media selection logic. The media player interface is either built into the media player or a separate component such as a remote control. Either way, the media player interface includes a single point interface. When the single point interface is triggered by a user, the media selection logic selects an item of media by reference to the media related data. The media related data includes information that determines the probability of a particular item of media being selected by the media selection logic. The act of triggering the single point interface provides the media selection logic with information to update the media related data. The media selection logic may also consider the current sequence of selections, so that a single item is not likely to be selected back-to-back.

An apparatus is provided for collecting state information associated with an execution path of recently processed instructions in a processor pipeline of a computer system. The apparatus identifies a class of instructions to be sampled. A method is provided for estimating execution rates of program executions paths. The method samples path-identifying state information of selected instructions while executing the program in a processor. A control flow graph of the program is supplied, the control flow graph includes a plurality of path segments. The control flow graph is analyzed using the path-identifying state information to identify a set of path segments that are consistent with the sampled state information. The set of paths segments can be counted to determine their relative execution frequencies.
