Abstract:
A process for increasing the tactile properties of a base web without adversely effecting the strength of the web is disclosed. In one embodiment, the process includes the steps of placing a creped base web between a first moving conveyor and a second moving conveyor. The conveyors are then wrapped around a shear-inducing roll which creates shear forces and compressive forces that act upon the base web. The shear forces disrupt the web, increasing the softness and decreasing the stiffness of the web. The compressive forces are localized at the areas where the fabric knuckles contact the base web, imparting a unique fabric-imprinted pattern to the web with limited caliper reduction. The shear-inducing roll typically has a relatively small diameter. In some applications, more than one shear-inducing roll may be incorporated into the system.

Abstract:
A vehicle tracking system includes a vehicle racking unit and a monitoring station communicating therewith. The vehicle tracking unit preferably includes a test switch, a vehicle position determining device, a wireless communications device, and a controller. The controller is preferably for operating the at least one vehicle device and for cooperating with the wireless communications device and the vehicle position determining device to determine and send vehicle position information to the monitoring station. Moreover, the controller may be switchable to a test mode for test operation of the at least one vehicle device responsive to activation of the test switch. Accordingly, an installer, for example, can quickly check that the tracking unit has been properly installed.

Abstract:
Paper products, such as wiping products, are disclosed that have a fabric-imprinted pattern in combination with a crepe pattern. In producing paper products according to the invention, a base web containing pulp fibers is formed. Once the base web is substantially dry, the web is creped to form a first pattern. The creped web is then placed between two moving conveyors and guided around one or more compression inducing elements. As the web is guided around the compression inducing element in between the two conveyors, shear forces and compressive forces are imparted to the web that form a fabric-imprinted pattern superimposed on the crepe pattern. In one embodiment, the fabric-imprinted pattern comprises high density troughs.

Abstract:
A remote control system for a vehicle includes a controller at the vehicle, and at least one remote device for wireless communication with the controller. The remote device may include a portable handheld housing, to be carried by a user when away from the vehicle, and a display, such as a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), mounted on the portable housing for displaying a selected vehicle style image from among a plurality of different selectable vehicle style images. For example, the different selectable vehicle style images may include a sedan style image, a pickup truck style image, and a van style image. The LCD may include a common image portion for all of the different selectable vehicle style images, and at least one other defining image portion selectively operated together with the common image portion to display the selected vehicle style image.
Vehicle Engine Start Control Apparatus Including Interface Device Facilitating Installation And Related Method
A remote engine starting apparatus is for installation in a vehicle for bypassing a theft-deterring start control circuit to permit remote starting of a vehicle engine. The theft-deterring start control circuit includes: an ignition switch for receiving a designated key having a preselected resistance, a first connector coupled to the ignition switch, a resistance sensing circuit portion for preventing starting of the vehicle engine unless the preselected resistance is sensed, and a second connector coupled to the resistance sensing circuit portion. The second connector is preferably matable with the first connector. The remote engine starting apparatus includes an interface device which, in turn, includes: a housing, a bypass circuit comprising a bypass resistor and a switching relay for selectively coupling the bypass resistor to the resistance sensing circuit portion to thereby enable starting of the vehicle engine without the designated key being in the ignition switch. Third and fourth connectors are coupled to the bypass circuit and are removably mated with the first and second connectors, respectively, of the theft-deterring start control circuit to facilitate installation and removal of the interface device. A receiver is operatively connected to the bypass circuit for coupling the bypass resistor to the resistor sensing circuit portion to enable engine starting responsive to receiving the remote engine starting signal from the remote transmitter.
