  • Inventors:
Stephen N. McEwen - Bowling Green OH
Jay M. Creps - Culleoka TN
Scott M. McEwen - Bowling Green OH
Richard A. Hallet - Delta OH
Robert F. Benschoter - Portage OH

  • International Classification:
    B01D 3323
    B01D 3321
    B01D 3325
  • US Classification:
    210486
  • Abstract:
Filter apparatus for filtering contaminants from a fluid, such as machine tool coolant, are disclosed. One filter apparatus includes a filter drum unit having a generally cylindrical open perforated support sheet with a cylindrical screen element mounted thereabout. Circumference varying mechanisms, such as turnbuckles, are connected relative to the support plate to vary the circumference of the support plate and the tautness of the screen element. A disc filter assembly having a mandrel and fluidly attached annular disc filter elements is also described. Each annular disc filter element has an inner structure with concentric ribs forming concentric grooves therebetween which are connected to radially extending grooves. A screen element is supported by the ribs so that the microscreen will not tear while allowing filtering of fluid into the grooves which are in fluid communication with the mandrel. A disc filter assembly having a mandrel in fluid communication with a plurality of rectangular disc filter elements is also described.

  • Assignee:
Henry Filters, Inc. - Bowling Green OH
  • International Classification:
    F04B 1703
  • US Classification:
    41742311
  • Abstract:
A pump for pumping fluids in a filtration system is disclosed. The pump has a thrust balancing means to reduce axial loads on motor bearings of the pump during operation of the pump. A drive system of the pump includes an elongate flexible shaft interconnecting a drive shaft and an impeller shaft. The elongate flexible shaft bends and twists to accommodate misalignment during assembly of the drive system. A seal assembly is provided for sealing about a drive shaft. The seal assembly is evacuated to prevent pumped fluid from contaminating fluids in the motor. A concentric coupling and method for making the same are taught which include a cylindrical block which is concentrically bored and cut into an annular L-shaped segment having an L-shaped notch and a semi-cylindrical mating segment which is received into the notch. The coupling concentrically joins a pair of shafts together.

  • International Classification:

    B21D 1104
    B21D 905
  • US Classification:
    72203
  • Abstract:
The disclosure concerns a smooth continuous steel trough, free of longitudinal weld joints except for a flanged frame attached to its open top for supporting a cover grating. The apparatus for performing these steps comprises a conveyor table for moving and clamping a parallel edged sheet of steel while it is cut, such as by a torch, to predetermined length sides, and angled ends corresponding to the flow pitch for the resulting trough. The resulting isosceles trapezoidal section is then conveyed and aligned under an oscillatable convex mandrel or roller having a longitudinal clamping rib axially along its periphery for clamping the trapezoidal sheet near its center at the bottom of what is to be one of the equal side walls of the resulting trough. The conveyor and/or support for the sheet at the mandrel is vertically adjustable to compensate for different size mandrels and thicknesses of the sheets. Separate spaced manually-driven frictional rollers or tired wheels are hydraulically engageable to raise the plate and support it while under the mandrel, which wheels can be separately manually rotated for aligning the trapezoidal sheet with the mandrel before its longitudinal rib clamps the sheet against the supporting table.

  • International Classification:
    B23P 1904
  • US Classification:
    29460
  • Abstract:
The disclosure concerns a smooth continuous steel trough, free of longitudinal weld joints except for a flanged frame attached to its open top for supporting a cover grating. This trough is, for example, of the type embedded in the floor of a factory for the gravity and/or jet flow of contaminated coolants from machining operations. The major steps in the production of such a trough comprise cutting a sheet into equilateral trapezoidal sections in which the tapered sides correspond to the flow pitch of the trough and the narrow base of one section is equal to the longer base of the next successive section; wrapping the center of the trapezoidal sheet around a convex mandrel by a single roll operation; assembling a plurality of said sections by welding their adjacent edges of equal length; welding a flanged frame on the top of the sub-assembly sections; coating the outside of said sections with a rust-inhibiting coating; and installing said sections in a floor in concrete, the sides of which troughs are locked by bent tabs projecting from the deeper coated walls of the trough sections.
