  • Fluid Conducting Joint

  • US Patent:
    54051738, Apr 11, 1995
  • Filed:
    Aug 16, 1993
  • Appl. No.:
    8/106830
  • Inventors:
Richard J. Goughneour - Travelers Rest SC
  • Assignee:
T & S Brass and Bronze Works, Inc. - Travelers Rest SC
  • International Classification:
    F16L 2700
  • US Classification:
    285123
  • Abstract:
A swivel joint connecting articulable fluid conducting arm members of a plumbing assembly includes an inlet member matable with a first arm member and having an inlet fluid passage from the arm member to an inlet collar section. An outlet member is provided matable with a second arm member. The outlet member also defines an outlet fluid passage from the respective second arm member to an outlet member collar section. A fluid conducting shaft member is disposed through the inlet and outlet member collar sections so that the collar sections rotate about the longitudinal axis of the shaft. A bearing sleeve is concentric about the shaft so that the collar sections rotate about the bearing sleeve. Resilient sealing rings are disposed about the shaft adjacent the bearing sleeve so as to prevent leakage of fluid from the swivel joint. Upon axially compressing the sealing rings and the bearing sleeve together, the sealing rings radially expand thereby sealing against the collar sections.
  • Vacuum Breaker

  • US Patent:
    53600290, Nov 1, 1994
  • Filed:
    Jun 17, 1993
  • Appl. No.:
    8/078401
  • Inventors:
Richard J. Goughneour - Travelers Rest SC
  • Assignee:
T & S Brass and Bronze Works, Inc. - Travelers Rest SC
  • International Classification:
    E03C 110
  • US Classification:
    137218
  • Abstract:
A vacuum breaker is provided comprising a body member having an inlet and an outlet defined therein. A core insert member may be threadedly engaged within the body member having a chamber defined therein. A vent passage is defined within the body member to vent the outlet side of the device to atmosphere. A piston member is movably disposed within the chamber between an upper limit stop and a lower limit stop so as to variably restrict liquid passage through the device. At its lower limit stop, the piston essentially seals the inlet from the outlet while the vent passage vents the outlet to atmosphere. At its upper limit stop, the piston essentially seals the vent passage from the outlet. A drain passage is defined within the device generally between near the top portion of the chamber and the outlet so that liquid entrapped within the chamber above the piston member drains through this drain passage to the outlet side of the device during movement of the piston within the chamber. In this manner, liquid entrapped above the piston member is prevented from being pumped out of the device during movement of the piston.
  • Rinsing Assembly With Swivel Actuating Valve

    view source
  • US Patent:
    54921481, Feb 20, 1996
  • Filed:
    Jul 29, 1994
  • Appl. No.:
    8/282804
  • Inventors:
Richard J. Goughneour - Travelers Rest SC
Michael Regelbrugge - Fountian Inn SC
    Craig Ashton - Greer SC
  • Assignee:
T&S Brass and Bronze Works, Inc. - Travelers Rest SC
  • International Classification:
    E03B 100
  • US Classification:
    1376165
  • Abstract:
A rinsing assembly has a swivel actuation valve disposed between a riser pipe member and second pipe member. The swivel actuation valve has an inner body member disposed co-axially within an outer body member. The outer body member is axially movable relative to the inner body member. A sealable internal fluid path is defined through the inner body member and the outer body member. The fluid path is sealed when the body members are in a first relative axial position and is open when the body members are in a second relative axial position. Internal biasing means bias the inner and outer body members towards the first relative axial position.
