An improved transparent armor piercing protection system that acts as a vision window in an armor system. The transparent armor piercing protection system comprises ballistic plastic prisms with mirrored external surfaces disposed between armor plates so that the reflection of the image occurs entirely within the prism. The armor sheets are also redesigned with perforations to reduce weight while defeating incoming threats.

Abstract:
A blanket formed of heat and flame resistant materials and adapted to be placed adjacent to a structural part to isolate it thermally from other, adjacent structural parts. The blanket is comprised of a layer of insulation material coupled to a layer of fibrous material impregnated with a thermosetting resin. When the blanket is in a desired shape, the resin is cured to render the layer of fibrous material substantially rigid so it can support itself as well as the layer of insulating material coupled to it. Layers of a heat and fire resistant fabric such as glass fabric are placed on opposed sides of the layer of insulating material to keep the insulating material intact. In one application, the blanket is molded in the form of a box-like structure which can at least partially surround a structural part, such as an aircraft engine, to form a fireshield to isolate the engine from adjacent structural parts of an aircraft. In another application, the resin-impregnated layer of fibrous material of the blanket is placed adjacent to one surface of a structural part and bonded thereto during the curing of the resin to thereby form a fireshield attached to the structural part. In a third application, the resin-impregnated layer of fibrous material is used without the layer of insulating material and, when the resin is cured, the layer is rigid and forms a box-like structure for at least partially enclosing a structural part.

A curable composition and a method of making it comprises reacting in the presence of a catalyst epoxy resin(s) having at least 0. 05% by weight of epoxy resin oligomer with a solid rubber which is swellable or soluble in the reaction mixture and possessing at least 1% by weight of reactive groups, in a rubber:epoxy resin(s) weight ratio of between 1:1 and 1:20, wherein said epoxy resin(s) comprises (a) at least one epoxy resin having an epoxy functionality of greater than three and (b) at least one second epoxy resin having a functionality of greater than one but not more than three; heating to effect the reaction, cooling to substantially ambient temperature, and adding any remaining portion of epoxy resin and curing agent(s).

Abstract:
A fitting for conducting fluid into or out of a pliant bag has inner and outer blocks releasably fastened together in immediate contact with the bag wall between them and with a perforate portion of the bag wall between them. Communicating flow passages in both blocks respectively are open into the bag through the perforate portion and to the fluid pressure or evacuating device.
A thimble-shaped button actuator largely formed of insulating material has a cup-like base with an inside step and is symmetrical about an axis. A thimble is reciprocable in the base along the axis. A spring is seated against the closed end of the base and the closed end of the thimble and urges the thimble in a direction away from the base and against a snap ring in the base in the path of a flange on the thimble. An electrically conducting ring on the thimble is moved by axial pressure on the thimble to abut a pair of electrical conductors seated in the base and overlying the step. Electrically conducting binding screws are recessed in and pass into the base to engage threads in the conductors.
