An appliance packaging assembly and method therefor, including a reinforced tray disposed under the appliance, a plurality of rigid posts disposed between the tray and alongside the appliance, a transparent film disposed about the posts and the appliance, a reinforced cover having a lifting flange member on a side portion thereof, the cover disposed over the plurality of wrapped posts and appliance, and tensioned strap disposed along side the posts and about the tray and cover and over the lifting flange member thereof.
A strap tension retaining device is configured for a use with a bulk unit secured by a strap under tension. Such a bulk unit load has a corner and defines a bulk unit perimeter. The strap tension retaining device includes a fixed base element, fixed relative to the bulk unit load, a floating element movable relative to the fixed base element, a biasing element mounted between the floating element and the fixed base element and a guide element mounting the floating element to the fixed base element to guide movement of the floating element relative to the fixed base element. The strap tension retaining device is positioned at about the corner of the bulk unit load with the strap positioned around the bulk unit perimeter of the bulk unit load, over the strap tension retaining device floating element. When the strap is tensioned a force is exerted by the strap on the floating element to force the biasing element against the bias direction. Changes in strap tension due to a decrease or increase in the bulk unit perimeter are accommodated by movement of the floating element.
A package for packaging a plurality of frangible items, such as windows, doors and the like, includes a plurality of separate items, which includes a plurality of slotted upper and lower pads, a top sheet, a bottom sheet and end caps which are assembled together to form a package around the items. The items are disposed within the package in a side-by-side, spaced configuration. The top and bottom sheets overlay the top and bottom edges of the items, respectively. The upper and lower pads are sandwiched between the top sheet and the top edges of the items and the bottom sheet and the bottom edges of the items, respectively. The end caps overlay the side edges of the items and a portion of the middle section of the items while remaining portions of the middle sections exposed to view. Stretchable plastic film is wrapped around the package. A slip sheet is placed underneath the package and includes pull tabs which extend outwardly beyond the outer margins of the package so that the tines or steel plate of a lift truck can be slid underneath the package while being pulled by a front-end-attachment gripper bar on the lift truck to lift and handle the package.

Abstract:
A shipping package system with at least one tier of vertically-stacked webbing rolls utilizes pads with an inner set of passages and an outer set of passages, which webbing rolls may have extended tubular core ends nesting in the pad passages. The outer set of passages accommodate radial webbing roll movement and inhibit circumferential movement about the pad center, which radial movement provides tangential contact between adjacent and/or inner passage webbing rolls.
