Abstract:

Route changes are processed and filtered to notify a client of those routing updates of interest to a client. In one configuration, a set of network addresses are received from a client indicating route updates of interest to the client and a set of types of routing changes that are of interest. One or more data structures are accordingly populated with this information. In response to receiving a route update, one or more lookup operations are performed on the data structure to identify whether this particular route is of interest to a particular client and/or whether any route dependent on the particular route are of interest to a client. The client is notified of the changes of interest. In one embodiment, the type of change to a route is also matched against a set of types of routing changes that are of interest, and a client is only notified if the change to a route of interest also matches a type of routing change of interest.

Abstract:

A computational recommendation engine is described. In embodiment(s), identifiers of ranked programs can be distributed to television client devices, and then a viewing vector from each of the television client devices can be received where the viewing vectors indicate which of the ranked programs have been displayed for viewing at different ones of the television client devices. A client devices group can be created that includes a subset of the television client devices based on the viewing vectors that are received from respective ones of the television client devices. A ranked program can be determined that has not been displayed for viewing by some of the television client devices in the client devices group, and a recommendation of the ranked program can be communicated to the television client devices in the client devices group that have not had the ranked program displayed for viewing.

Methods and system are described for a media guidance application that generates a plurality of media cells, each corresponding to a particular media criterion, selects a plurality of media listings corresponding to the media criterion of each media cell, and automatically transitions between the media listings within the cell. For example, within each media cell, the media listings selected for that cell may crawl, one at a time, from one side of the media cell to the other. Abstract:

Energy-saving methods and systems for updating media information on a media equipment device are provided. An update to media information is received at the media equipment device. Data identifying a weight for the update is retrieved from the storage device. The data may be related to the user's media preferences or viewing history of content associated with the update. A weight is then assigned to the update based on the retrieved data. The assigned update weight is compared to a threshold value which is retrieved from the storage device. If the update weight exceeds the threshold value, the device will switch from a first power mode of operation (e.g., sleep mode) to a higher power mode of operation (e.g., active mode) so that the media information may be updated with the information contained in the received update.

Systems and methods for presenting information for a given cell using adjacent cells are provided. A plurality of media asset cells arranged in a grid are generated for presentation according to a time dimension of first and second transmission times of corresponding media assets.
