A device for stamping a detergent bar, i. e. a bar comprising soap, a synthetic detergent active or a mixture thereof, includes a die. The die has at least one bar stamping surface provided with at least one elastomeric coating which includes a conductive filler such as stainless steel powder. Good release of the detergent bars from the die is possible particularly when the dies are chilled. Use of the conductive filler facilitates chilling of the dies.

Abstract:
Modular die or mold assemblies comprise a platform, and at least one die or mold unit which is releaseably connected to the platform. The invention permits rapid changing of molds or dies, especially in the manufacture of detergent bars, such as soap bars. Surface ornamentation such as logos can be imparted to the detergent bars either directly from the stamping surface of the dies, from the stamping surface of the dies through an elastomeric lining, or from the surface of the elastomeric lining; in the latter case the indicia is imparted by a mold used to prepare the lining. The modular molds may be used where it is desired to coat the dies with elastomer, particularly where logos are imparted to the elastomeric layer, and where it may be desirable to change the logos, e. g. , by changing the modular mold units. k.

Abstract:
A device for stamping a detergent bar, i.e. a bar comprising soap, a synthetic detergent active or a mixture thereof, includes a die half and a release fluid reservoir. The die is porous so that at least one bar stamping surface has pores through which a release fluid may be to facilitate clean release of the detergent bar cleanly after stamping. Good release of the detergent bars from the die is expected without or with reduced chilling of the dies.

Abstract:
A plough for closing carton flaps, particularly major carton flaps and a process for making the plough. The plough is designed to cause the flaps to close at or near constant velocity so as to minimize disruptions on the manufacturing line. The plough is prepared by generating data describing the coordinates of a flap as it closes at or near constant velocity, using the data to generate additional data describing the contour of a plough necessary to close the flap at or near constant velocity, and causing the plough to be fabricated utilizing the contour data.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a die used in bar stamping. Specifically, it relates to the orientation of cavities found on the die whereby, by angling the x-axis across the cavities at 10. degree. to 90. degree. from the horizontal axis of the press on which they are mounted, it is possible to add more cavities over a fixed length and/or to reduce spacing between cavities and thereby reduce rework. Surprisingly, the cavities are all filled using the same billet volume and, because the same volume fills more cavities, there is less rework and higher ultimate throughput.
Magazine And Process For Stacking Cartons Employing Same

Abstract:
An improved magazine particularly useful for stacking concentrated or superconcentrated detergent cartons and a process for erecting such cartons and other stackable items. Manufacturing problems resulting from the presence of the handle in high density powder cartons can be reduced by use of a magazine or chute having curved side walls, which accommodate the fanning which normally occurs when the cartons are stacked. Flat tubular carton blanks are inserted, preferably horizontally, into a first carton opening in the magazine and travel therethrough to a second, preferably vertical opening in the magazine, where they emerge. The shape of the magazine accommodates the uneven stacking of the cartons which tends to occur because of the extra localized thickness contributed by the carton handle and the rivets. A case turner is provided for feeding cases of cartons into the magazine.
