Abstract:
A vehicle seat assembly includes a seat bottom and a seat back supported for movement relative to the seat bottom such that seat position can be adjusted forwardly or rearwardly with respect to the vehicle. The seat assembly is mounted to a vehicle structure and includes a first track and a second track supported for movement relative to the first track with the seat bottom being supported on the second track for movement with the second track. A support member presents a bearing surface that rotatably engages a bearing surface on the second track. At least one adjustment link is used to interconnect the support member and the seat bottom. The adjustment link is mounted on the support member for rotation therewith to provide vertical seat adjustment. A torque tube engages the support member to provide rotational input to the adjustment link.

Abstract:
A method of welding an axle housing surface to a blank surface includes generated heat in one of the two components. Heat is generated from at least one of these surfaces at their interface sufficient to weld them together. The surfaces are then applied together.

Abstract:
A shock absorber assembly includes a coil spring that reacts between first and second spring seats. The first spring seat is fixed to a shock cylinder and the second spring seat is fixed to a rod that is slidably received within the shock cylinder. An isolator is positioned between an end coil of the spring and at least one of the first and second spring seats. The isolator comprises an annular ring that defines a cavity that is at least partially filled with fluid. The isolator evenly distributes non-centered spring end forces through the fluid to reduce the effects of side load forces.
A composite motor housing is used with a motor of a window regulator. A magnet is inserted within the housing to assist the motor in spinning. A ferrous magnet housing lines the interior surface of the body portion of the motor housing to prevent the magnetic field produced by the magnet from escaping from the motor housing and affecting other components of the vehicle door. A bearing is molded into the top portion of the motor housing. In an alternative embodiment, the motor housing is formed of a ferrous matrix composite material, eliminating the need for the ferrous magnet housing. In another alternative embodiment, the bearing is integrated into the top portion of the motor housing, eliminating the need for a molded in bearing.

Abstract:
A shock absorber assembly includes a coil spring that reacts between first and second spring seats. The first spring seat is fixed to a shock cylinder and the second spring support is fixed to a rod that is slidably received within the shock cylinder. At least one of the first and second spring seats comprises an adjustable two-pierce spring seat. First and second spring seat pieces are initially movable relative to each other to achieve a desired spring pierce point location for a selected operational position. Once the first and second spring seat pieces are adjusted to a desired position, the first and second spring seat pieces are permanently attached to each other.

Abstract:
A vehicle seat mounting assembly includes a mounting pin rotatably retained in a support foot to removably retain a seat track assembly to a vehicle floor member. The support foot is located on the vehicle floor member and the mounting pin is moved downward through a slot in the vehicle floor member. The mounting pin is rotated within the support foot and released such that the biasing member moves the mounting pin upward into a receipt member. Another embodiment of the vehicle seat mounting assembly includes a pin having an engagement surface. The mounting pin is passed through the vehicle floor member an into a receipt member. To retain the mounting pin in the receipt member, a spring biased locking member engages the engagement surface of the mounting pin. The receipt member is preferably mounted such that the receipt member can move or "float" relative to the vehicle floor member such that during receipt of the mounting pin, various tolerance variations between the seat and the vehicle floor member are accommodated.
