Abstract:
A receiver for receiving an analog signal that is digitally modulated using differential binary phase shift keying (DBPSK) and demodulated by a quadrature demodulator into two signals. The receiver converts the two signals into two digital signals using 2-bit analog-to-digital converters. Samples of these digital signals are then encoded according to a maximum likelihood criteria algorithm and decisions are made based on the signal constellation, which identifies the original data transmitted.

Abstract:
A device for seamlessly providing 10BASE-T compatible data communications over an ordinary single twisted-pair home phone line between multiple computers and/or peripherals is disclosed. Each component that is to communicate over a home phone line needs a 10BASE-T compatible network interface card (NIC) for interfacing with the device. A transmit/receive switch is used to switch the device between a transmit mode and a receive mode. When a signal is being transmitted from a component, a Manchester decoder converts the signals received from the NIC into a raw data stream. A differential converter converts the raw data signal received from the NIC to a differential signal. A modulator is used to modulate the signal to a RF signal using a PSK, QPSK, QAM, MCM or similar modulation schemes. A filter is used to limit the bandwidth of the modulated signal and a driver is used to amplify the signal to match the impedance of the phone line. When the device receives a signal over the phone line, the signal is filtered using a bandpass filter and then amplified.
Method And Apparatus For Separating Solids From A Slurry
Method and apparatus for separating components of a slurry comprising solid particles and liquid components, particularly where the slurry is under pressure. The components are separated in a hydrocyclone such that a solids-enriched slurry exits the separator via an underflow outlet while a solids-depleted slurry exits the separator through an overflow outlet and passes into a products vessel. Fluid communication is provided between the products vessel and the underflow outlet so that gas can circulate through the hydrocyclone. This gas circulation pathway may be achieved by enclosing the separation system in a housing or providing a gas circulation conduit between the products vessel and the underflow outlet of the separator or an optional solids vessel connected to the underflow outlet. Pressure within the separator apparatus may be adjusted and controlled at a negative, neutral or positive pressure while operating the hydrocyclone in balanced mode to achieve efficient separation. Where the slurry is derived from a high pressure and/or high temperature reactor and the solid components of the slurry include catalyst particles that are to be reclaimed and recycled to the reactor, the separator apparatus is preferably operated at substantially the same pressure that is found in the reactor.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for improving antenna performance and reducing antenna volume are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a wireless communication device includes a first antenna, a second antenna, and a radio frequency receiver. The first antenna is tuned to support a first set of radio frequency bands. The second antenna is tuned to support a second set of radio frequency bands. The radio frequency receiver combines signals detected by the first and second antennas to produce a baseband signal. The second set of radio frequency bands is different from the first set of radio frequency bands.
