A collapsible, self-standing, rigid laser containment barrier, which includes at least two adjacent, substantially rigid laser beam absorption panels hingably attached to each other using first and second pairs of aligned hinge pins proximal top and bottom edges and near first and second sides of each laser beam absorption panel and a rigid light strip having a front face including first and second pairs of laterally extending hinge brackets. Each of the hinge bracket pairs corresponds to and is aligned with one of the first and second hinge pin pairs, and includes a hinge pin hole passing therethrough. Each of the hinge pins passes through one of the hinge pin holes to hingably attach the two adjacent laser beam absorption panels.
A laser test card according to the present invention comprising a thin planar multi-layer material, which may be cut to a desired length and width, is exposed to a beam directed to the laser test card top surface from a laser under test, and reveals successive visibly contrasting layers under the top surface according to the incident laser beam energy at that particular point or any point of the X or Y dimension (cross-section) of the beam. In the preferred embodiment, several different layers of sharply different colors are used.

Abstract:
An tubular member intermediately mounted on a gun between the shooter and a distally mounted gun sight or gun sight distal indicator, having a reflective internal surface which provides a specific reflection (e.g. a uniform circle) of and concentric with the distal sight or indicator when the gun is aligned to hit the target on which the distal indicator is centered. Alternate embodiments provide an illuminated distal indicator, and an indicator which itself shows an enhanced characteristic, such as intensity or visibility of the high contrast element, as the gun is pointed on-target. A mounting member provides pitch and yaw adjustment of the tubular member in addition to lateral and height adjustment relative to the gun barrel or longitudinal axis of the gun projectile.
An elongated cylindrical pump lamp which coaxially surrounds a lasing material and provides high energy excitation thereof uniformly around and along the length of the lasing material. The pump lamp chamber has a length to diameter ratio of approximately one to one to four to one wherein the low pressure contents (such as xenon) is excited by an electric field and produces a uniform flash discharge along the length of the pump lamp and radially about the lasing material to efficiently excite the lasing material. Optical pumping efficiency is increased with integral mirror surfaces and circuitous internal cavities providing elongated internal discharge paths. Alternate embodiments include a laser pump lamp wherein the outer surface of the lasing material forms the interior wall of the pump lamp chamber.
A personnel and equipment shield which includes at least one partition including a frame and a substantially rigid, high-power laser beam absorption panel affixed to the frame is provided. Each frame includes a base section upon which the barrier stands. In the preferred embodiment, the rigid laser beam absorption panels are a textured, laser absorption material, such as EVER-GUARD. TM. laser barrier material. In the preferred embodiment, the portable, self-supporting laser containment barrier is made up of at least two partitions, which are hingably attached to each other at adjacent sides thereof. Thus, the portable, self-supporting laser containment barrier can be set up in any number of positions. Finally, the base section of each partition may include rollers or casters to facilitate the positioning of the laser barrier as a whole or the positioning of the individual partitions with respect to each other.
A palm-sized laser device which comprises a laser housing having a cavity situated therein and adaptable optical delivery device in a second housing removably attached to said first housing means. The inventive apparatus is adapted to provide a solid state crystal lase material rod, a lamp within a coupling cavity and a fluid cooling chamber adapted to receive and exhaust coolant from the same end of the laser housing. The inventive combination being generally tubular and overall outside dimensions less than about 2. 0 cm in diameter and about 12 to about 20 cm in length. The laser cavity of the present invention includes a coupling element having an eccentric cross-section and is adaptable to include a variety of cross-sections, reflective coatings and/or reflective materials to optimally couple the flashlamp energy to the lase material.

Abstract:
A removable and remountable gun sight comprising a point light viewable through an elongated tubular structure having a anti-reflective coating along the inner surface thereof, and a captive removable low illumination light source, preferably a chemical illuminating capsule, disposed to provide the point light source with illumination in low ambient or darkness. The gun sight is retained by a substantially C-shaped clip which engages the gun barrel, ventilation rib or other available gun portion along a length which requires the shooter to elevate one end apart from the gun portion to effect removal from the gun. Alternate embodiments include ambient light energized luminous rod elements interposed between the captive light source and the distal end of the elongated tubular structure, which provides continuous illumination of the point source to the shooter as he moves from high ambient light to low ambience or darkness.
A modular laser demonstration apparatus is taught by this invention and is made up of two modular assemblies, an optical resonator and a laser pump module. The optical resonator comprises a separation means and front and rear reflector assemblies. Each of the reflector assemblies has a first adjustable attachment means to adjustably attach at least one mirror selected from a set of interchangeable mirrors to its respective reflector assembly and a second attachment means comprising a plurality of clamp means to slidably mount the reflector assembly to the separation means in a manner that confines the sliding motion to a single plane along the axis of the separation means. Furthermore, the front reflector assembly has a laser beam penetration opening to allow a laser beam generated by the modular laser demonstration apparatus to exit the apparatus for use in laser demonstrations, experiments and the like. The laser pump module comprises a removable cavity module and a non-electrically conductive cavity module cradle. The removable cavity module comprising a lamp selected from a set of interchangeable lamps, a lase material rod selected from a set of interchangeable lase material rods, a modular optical coupler selected from a set of interchangeable optical couplers, each optical coupler of said set having an optical coupling face and an outer peripheral shape.
