Abstract:

A leaded semiconductor power module includes a first heatsink, an electrically insulated substrate thermally coupled to the first heatsink, one or more semiconductor chips, a leadframe substrate, and a second heatsink thermally coupled to the leadframe substrate, the assembly being overmolded with an encapsulant to expose the first heatsink, the second heatsink and peripheral terminals of the leadframe substrate. The semiconductor chips are electrically and structurally coupled to both the insulated substrate and the leadframe substrate, and conductive spacers electrically and structurally couple the insulated substrate to the leadframe substrate.

Abstract:

A thermal conduction structure is integrated into a multi-layer circuit board to thermally couple a power electronic device to a heatsink while electrically isolating the power electronic device from the heatsink. The thermal conduction structure includes a stack of alternatingly insulative and conductive layers, a first set of vertical vias that thermally and electrically join the power electronic device to a first set of conductive layers, and a second set of vertical vias that thermally and electrically join the heatsink to a second set of conductive layers that are interleaved with the first set of conductive layers.

Abstract:

An immersion cooling apparatus includes a multi-terminal thermally conductive module that supports and encloses a power semiconductor device and a housing defining a flow-through chamber in which the thermally conductive module is mounted and through which liquid coolant is circulated. The thermally conductive module has first and second oppositely disposed connector headers housing terminal pins or blades electrically coupled to the semiconductor device, and the connector headers protrude through openings in oppositely disposed sidewalls of the housing so that the portion of the thermally conductive module between the connector headers is suspended in the chamber and immersed in the circulating coolant. The thermally conductive module is sealed against the housing sidewalls around the openings, and one of the sidewalls is removable to facilitate installation of the thermally conductive module in the housing or its subsequent removal.

Abstract:

A composite powder metal rotor sleeve for slipping over a conventional rotor core to form a rotor assembly in an electric machine. The sleeve includes alternating magnetically conducting segments of sintered ferromagnetic powder metal and magnetically non-conducting segments of sintered non-ferromagnetic powder metal. A rotor assembly is also provided in which a rotor core of stamped laminations is attached to a shaft, and the composite sleeve of the present invention circumferentially surrounds the rotor core. There is further provided alternative methods of making an annular composite powder metal rotor sleeve of the present invention, including a compaction-sintering method, and injection molding method, and a sinterbonding method.

Abstract:

A park interlock device for a land-based vehicle including a driver-selectable shifter for selecting a respective one of the propulsion modes of the vehicle is provided. The device includes a generally elongated, hollowed body. The device further includes an actuating rod configured to be axially disposed in said hollowed body. The actuating rod is responsive to increments in linear motion produced when the shifter is set to a new propulsion mode. A detent assembly is configured to securely engage into a respective one of a plurality of notches in correspondence with a selected propulsion mode of the vehicle. A plunger is disposed at one end of the actuating rod. The plunger is mechanically biased and is responsive to axial movement of the actuating rod due to the linear motion produced when the shifter is set to a new propulsion mode to selectively reach a desired interlocking state for every propulsion mode of the vehicle without performing any conversion from linear to rotational motion in the park interlock device.

Abstract:

A liner for a stator of an electric machine is provided. The liner includes an insulating layer and a magnetically conducting layer. The insulating layer comprises a plurality of insulating strips, while the conducting layer comprises a plurality of conducting strips. The insulating and conducting layers are connected to each other in an alternating overlapping fashion to form a ribbon-like element. The ribbon-like element is connectable to the stator such that the insulating strips are positionable in winding slots of the stator and such that the conducting strips are mateable with the stator to cause a portion of the conducting strips to be across the openings in the stator.
