Abstract:

An assembly for a rapidly-drying rectifying flame rod, having an insulator sleeve. The assembly may further incorporate a mechanical coupling attaching the flame rod to an end part which in turn may be hermetically coupled to an insulator. The insulator may be hermetically coupled to a conduit which may be hermetically coupled to an elongated tube. A conductor may go through the tube, conduit, insulator and end part. The flame rod may be connected to the conductor via the mechanical coupling and end part. A sheath having sealing and electrical insulating properties may be formed over at least a portion of the components. Hermetic couplings may be made with ordinary blazing or welding. The couplings may instead be made with high temperature brazing or welding which can withstand temperatures equal to or greater than 1500 F. At these temperatures, the sleeve on the flame rod and the sheath may be eliminated.

Abstract:

A burner flame detection and monitoring system for a pilot burner for combustion of wastes gases and waste materials. The system includes a pilot burner assembly. A gas premix burner assembly includes a fuel gas delivery conduit, a fuel metering orifice, a fuel and air mixing device, a pilot tube and a pilot burner tip assembly. A primary sensor is in communication with the pilot burner assembly downstream of the fuel metering orifice. A secondary sensor is in communication with pilot burner assembly at or upstream of the fuel metering orifice. A processor receives input from both the primary sensor and the secondary sensor. A mechanism integrates the input from the primary sensor and the input from the secondary sensor in order to deduce the presence, absence or quality of a pilot flame.

Abstract:

A heater coil for heating a feedstock comprises an inlet manifold and an outlet manifold having longitudinal extensions that are parallel. A plurality of process tubes are suspended from and in fluid communication with the inlet manifold and the outlet manifold. Each process tube comprises an inlet leg coupled to the inlet manifold, an outlet leg coupled to the outlet manifold, and a U-shaped portion disposed between the inlet leg and the outlet leg for passage of the feedstock therethrough. The inlet manifold and the outlet manifold are elevated with respect to the plurality of process tubes. Each of the plurality of process tubes is aligned such that a width of the plurality of process tubes extends along a direction that is not perpendicular to the longitudinal extensions of the inlet and outlet manifolds.

Abstract:

Process for measuring emission for a flame in an open combustion environment. A captured image is received from each of a plurality of image capturing devices in at least one selected spectral band. Each of the plurality of image capturing devices is trained on the flame from the combustion process from a different perspective view angle. A spectral path length of the flame in the at least one spectral band is estimated from the captured images. Emitted radiance of the flame is estimated from the captured images, and a temperature of the flame is estimated from the estimated emitted radiance. A gas species concentration of the flame is estimated from the temperature of the flame and the spectral path length of the flame. Emission for the flame is measured from the gas species concentration.
