Mary “K” Kottich was known as Mary Ruth Warner when she graduated from U of K with a BA degree in education. Born in Jessamine County, she grew up working along with her sister and brothers on a tobacco farm. Father, Willie Warner, was known for his high quality of burley tobacco, bringing him many years of recognition and awards at the State Fair. While attending U of K, Mary was involved in the orientation of new students and, in her Junior/Senior years, helped direct the entire orientation program, the same year the Fiddling Five won the NCAA Championship and her roommate Nina Warren (George Clooney’s mother) was named Miss Kentucky. After two years teaching at Glendover Elementary School, Mary accepted a position at Ft. Knox. There she met and married husband, Charles Kottich, a career army officer. She spent the next 25 years crisscrossing the globe, teaching children of foreign diplomats and businessmen in international schools. After moving from Kansas to Berlin to Venezuela to name a few, Mary K jumped at the chance to settle once and for all in a lovely place like Seminole, Florida. Mary K felt passionately about and loved teaching. She approaches her current career, real estate, with the same kind of passion. As one of the top real estate professionals in Florida, she has set the standard by which other realtors in the area are measured. Her innovative, thorough marketing techniques and unflagging work ethic have earned her the reputation as one of the fastest home sellers in the state as well as many awards and honors from the Century 21 National and International network. In fact, she’s the only person ever to be named Florida’s number one Century 21 agent 15 of the last 17 years, including 2006 when the depression of real estate sales created great challenges in places like Florida. Mary K does not need a nickname to be noticed these days. She is well known around the Seminole, Clearwater and St Petersburg areas as the person to ask for market information. Attesting to that, many professional appraisers call her regularly to ask about the market value of certain properties.
