Abstract:

An improved stair chair stretcher assembly for use in paramedic and other similar applications. Translational supports are attached to the stair chair stretcher assembly to allow medical transport personnel to move a patient up and down steps without having to hand carry the patient. The translational supports contact the edge of steps and permit the stretcher assembly to be securely moved along the steps. Also disclosed and claimed is a lifting means which allows for movement of a patient up and down along various points of the stair chair assembly, to improve ease of handling heavier patients.

A conductor is provided for large dynamo-electric machines, such as turbine generators, having a header at the end of the conductor for connection in a liquid-cooling system and having means for strengthening and reinforcing the conductor in the region immediately adjacent the header to reduce the excessive strains which may occur in this region and greatly reduce the possibility of failures of the conductor or of individual strands of the conductor.

Abstract:

A communication system includes a distribution center which collects and processes signals from one or more program sources, and distributes these signals in compressed format to one or more airline terminals, each terminal in communication with one or more parked aircraft. An airline issues a program request identifying certain ones of the program sources, and sends this request to the distribution center where a composite signal is prepared including representations of the program source signals and the program request. The composite signal is transmitted to receiver units at subscriber airline terminals of airports where individual program orders are stored and subsequently distributed to the appropriate aircraft for subsequent in-flight playback of the programs.

A PET container comprising a wall having an inside surface and an outside surface wherein the inside surface is coated with a silicon oxide barrier coating and having a barrier improvement factor (BIF) for oxygen as a result of the silicon oxide barrier coating, wherein the coated PET container retains at least 17% of BIF after the PET container is exposed to a thermal sterilization process.

A process for applying a silicon oxide barrier coating to a PET container, wherein the PET container comprises a wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, the process comprising the steps of: (a) heating a PET container such that at least the outer surface is at a temperature of from about 200 F. to about 383 F.; (b) forming a coated PET container by applying at least one silicon oxide barrier layer on at least the inner surface of the PET container while the temperature of at least the outer surface of the PET container is at a temperature of from about 200 F. to about 383 F.; and (c) cooling the coated PET container after step b.

Abstract:

A process is provided for making a blow-molded PET container comprising a wall having a density of between about 1.370 g/cc and 1.385 g/cc, a heat-induced crystallinity of from about 18% to about 25%, and a strain-induced crystallinity of from about 55% to about 75%, wherein the PET container, when filled with a liquid having a temperature of from about 100 C. to about 132 C. or when subjected to a pasteurization or retort process, will not experience a change in volume of greater than 3%.
