Abstract:
An inertia ring is attached to a driveshaft to separate the bending mode and breathing mode of driveshaft vibrations. Separation of the two modes results in the reduction of the overall amplitude of the vibrations and reduces the noise emitted by the driveshaft. The inertia ring may be constructed of either aluminum or steel and is secured to the driveshaft by means of a press fit or by clamping. The inertia ring is fixed at or near a point corresponding to a bending mode antinode adjacent to one end of the driveshaft.

Abstract:
This disclosure details tie-down systems for securing cargo within vehicle cargo spaces. An exemplary tie-down system may include a vehicle-mounted magnetic assembly and a tie-down that may be magnetically connected to the magnetic assembly for securing cargo within the cargo space. A magnet of the magnetic assembly may be energized to hold the tie-down and cargo in place within the cargo space or de-energized to release the tie-down and the cargo relative to the cargo space.

Abstract:
A sensor assembly for a vehicle includes a vehicle sensor, a shield panel that is positioned upstream of the vehicle sensor and that is pivotable, and a computer communicatively coupled to the shield panel. The computer is programmed to pivot the shield panel based on data representing a wind speed.

Abstract:
A combination of an inertial body and a shaft including an elongated hollow member having a vibration characteristic that includes a bending mode and a breathing mode, the bending mode vibration characteristic and the breathing mode vibration characteristic having closely coupled resonance frequencies. An inertial body is attached to the elongated hollow member in the proximity of a bending mode vibration antinode to decouple the bending mode resonance frequency from the breathing mode resonance frequency.
