Manuel Araya, the poets driver, has claimed that Neruda received a deadly injection from agents of Pinochets junta who infiltrated the Santa Maria Clinic where he was being treated. The appeals court made no reference to Arayas accusation.
In 2011, according to the poets driver, Manuel Araya, Neruda was allegedly killed. According to Manuel, the Nobel Prize-winning poet did not die of cancer, but was poisoned while being treated by agents of the Chilean dictator.
The poet and former diplomats death was officially blamed on cancer, but an investigation was opened in mid-2011 after a complaint was filed by Nerudas Communist Party colleagues based on charges by former chauffeur Manuel Araya that Neruda was murdered on Pinochets orders.

Remains exhumed to solve mystery of Neruda's death
The results of the inquiry not expected for at least three months are expected to support or refute the charge made by Neruda's driver and personal adviser, Manuel Araya, whose claims formed the basis of the complaint.
Chilean Communist Party lawyer Eduardo Contreras said he believes the poet was murdered, and he is supported by Manuel Araya, who was Neruda's driver, bodyguard and assistant in the year leading up to his death.
